Roadmap Release Date - beta or full game?

Is the posted 2013 release date on the road map for the beta, or for the full game launch?

 

At the moment, the ETA for both is 2013. It is guaranteed Beta this year, the full release can be in 2014. ^^

 

It doesn't really track the release date for either, it just gives us a rough idea of what each dev is doing and how each element of the game is going progress wise.
If you do use the roadmap as a release date estimate, Tiy said beta will come when mostly everything is around 90-100%

As for the estimate release date on top, it might be both, like Bacon said.

 

They changed the full release ETA to 2014?

 

No, what i am saying is after some "sentences" from some DEVs about it saying "it would be hard launch beta before December" it gives the idea of a possible full release in 2014. What is fine if the Beta is there in 2013.
But still, everything is possible. ^^

 

You really might want to be careful with mentioning the possible 2014, I get what you mean but I have seen a few people mistake people saying "Full could be in 2014" as the word of Tiy (or another dev) and get mad/scared.

 

If the beta is 2013...
I will be happy, because
waiting is my worst enemy.
and having a beta of a game similar to the full game
would be a thing i could play while waiting for the full release.

 

I believe that the beta release and the release will coincide, so many games do the same minecraft then reached of version 1.0 will launch the game or will be celebrated with new content

 

We can't be that far from the beta release. They're working quickly. I won't be surprised at all if there's a beta in August!

 

You say that...We have been seeing good progress for a while and yet beta seems far away still. I don't see talk about distribution mechanisms for patches and how they will update clients, server hosting, you know things that typically show the team is about done with a game and ready to ship it to the wild. We see discussion on core game mechanics instead. From what I've seen over the years that means we got a while. Do like me, and play The Impossible Game.

 

Good points, but I still disagree. Maybe it's just pessimism vs optimism. I'm a pessimist about most things, so I might as well be an optimist about this, at least!
It just seems like, to me, that beta is really close. They work fast, so I don't think these are things that will take several weeks. My March & July guesses were wrong... so I could be wrong again, but we will just have to wait and see.

 

The release hugely depends of how everything works in Beta, i don't see the Devs release date and next week "hey it's launched", it seems madness to me. When the discussion of the beta be really late 2013 did start in IRC with bart, people asked if that happens the full release to be 2014... And we got a lot of silence, the Devs did not say "No, our main objective is 2013 for both", what bring the community the general idea it's possible, but still everything can happen. At this moment only the Beta is guaranteed for 2013.

It's not a crazy idea, but our DEVs are not in any rush for get things done, they take their time to do everything right, so i see they not that worried in launch beta this or next month, if it still is 2013 it's ok.

 

I don't think any of us care really when the release date is
I believe its pretty obvious that the only release date we want right now Is the beta
at least that's for me

 

True the most People i know who preorder the Game including me are not waiting for the quest and npc part oft the Game .The digging mining and Buildingpart Is all we need. and we hope for an soon release oft the Beta

You can edit your post, double posting is discouraged on here. Also the roadmap is not up to date at the moment been at 77% overall for a while now.

 

They already have distribution settled. If you preordered you should already know they are set up for release through the Humble store so releasing the beta requires little more than uploading the game and pressing a few buttons.

 

He was not talking about initial distribution but how to distribute patches and client updates dynamically, steam will solve that for the steam version but they would likely like to give users a way to keep their game up to day without having to go back to the purchase page. Also I think humble might have to do a few things on their end, it took a bit for the mojam games to get uploaded for instance even after they submitted a new build.
