While I'm very glad to have this game available in Japanese, it's a little strange that rice is not a standard crop for summer and/or autumn. Additionally, rice ought to be able to be placed in a keg and and turned into sake over the course of a month.

it's a nice suggestion, though i think the game should NOT be counting on mods too much, so that the original will be as good, if not better than the mods let's hope the devs will see this, as i love to see more cultural stuff in this game, and this (sake related topics) always had my interest, since i watch anime
If you don't mind a non-anime suggestion, The Birth of Sake is a fantastic documentary about the full cycle of a traditional sake brewery in a small Japanese town.
While I think the idea is cool, just because the game is playable in Japanese doesn't mean you're playing in Japan. The town seems to be based on an American town, and the US isn't big on growing rice. From what I could find, they account for only two percent of rice production. Plus, there's the question of how it would be implemented. Would paddies be added to the game? Or would it just be a normal crop? We do have cranberries, though, which require water to be harvested. If paddies or "water fields" of some sort got added, it would be interesting to see if cranberries would become paddy crops, although cranberry bogs and rice paddies seem to work differently.
I will disagree with you. Where I live in Arkansas we produce a large amount of rice over 50% of the nations production and are the 4th largest global exporter of rice. So rice is a big crop at over $1 billon dollars anually.
I used to live in Texas next to acres of rice fields. It was our primary export. It's a poor argument anyway. While the game includes a lot of innate North American culture (which is always interesting to read explained in the translations), the setting and many characters are fantastical. Additionally, should we check every crop production and only include those for which "America" produces more than an arbitrary minimal percentage? That leaves out a lot of imported fruits, never mind this game's rendition of "Starfruit" (which grows nothing like it's real world counterpart) or Ancient Fruit. Oh, and American sake production is also on the rise, for what it's worth.
maybe go a little easy on them? they did not know anything about rice in the usa(for sure i did not know this stuff either) but that is no need to get mean
I didn't think either of us were, but tone can be hard to convey in text. I certainly don't think less of gummy as a person (I don't know them and don't mean them ill), I just disagree with the argument itself, especially if it's applied to the rest of the game.
