Review and things to improve.

    First of all, love the game and has alot of potential. I played 2-3 runs through the beta so far and the most exciting run was the first one (armor pen and planets with lvls), not only for discovering the game, but also to the gratification gained by progressin through planets with different dificulties, going to a new planet with higher level than your current planet and see if you can handle it.

    I like the current system of dps/hp more than the armor penetration system, but planets in the same system/tier must have different difficulties, because in my first run i went to 10+ planets in each sector progressing through the sector and wanting to find better equipement, in my last 2 runs i just need t 1 planet maybe 2-3 (if I feel like exploring) per sector to progress.
    Luckly i read this in the upcoming changes post "Smoother Difficulty Curve: Better indication of the difficulty of an area. Difficulty will change within tiers as well as between tiers. There will be fractional difficulty (for example, Difficulty 1.12 in tier 1 would be easier than Difficulty 1.52, while still in T1)" We need this as soon as possible for a better gameplay and advancement feeling.

    My biggest gripe with starbound right now is the multiplayer system and i mean how you create/join a server. I was given the impresion that we would have an integrated in-game mean of creating and joining servers such a game lobby with all servers listed showing whitch ones are open or with pasword and maybe with a short description. For me this is one of the biggest issues with starbound, the multiplayer, having to join a server by ip and having to to look in internet / outside the game for a server to join isn't user friendly and easy, this could easy be difference between having a good/great game or an extraordinary game that perdures long time.
    Also you have steam here, take your time and integrate steam in to your game, right clicking a steam friend to join or invite to a starbound game also could make a big diference.

    Also there are a few more things that i feel the game need to improve on:

    Underground and cave system: caves and undeground need a major revamp i hate to compare it but in terraria you could enter a cave and go very deep with little to no mining, also you could find more caves easyly so you could explore undeground and go deeper and deeper with no to much mining. In starbound in nearly all planets(arid and deserts are a little better) caves just go few meters down and end with a pond of water, also there is so much useless(not ore farming) mining to find the next little cave or biome.
    The transition from above planet to the underground core must be much more seamless with less required mining than right now. Also on a side note we need incentives to go deep down, better ores, items or quest that leads us to some underground things.

    Stats and loot/gear: if you want the game and of course the endgame to be more like a item hunt type of game something like borderlands or diablo. We need more stats like life regeneration, energy regeneration, melee critical chance, ranged critical chance, movement speed, jumping power, light radius, etc.. and a way to show them in character sheet.
    Also we need randomized armors like the weapons, use the hp/energy defense system and add some before mentioned randoms stats in them, you can differentiate the crafted sets by giving them some set bonuses or just by the looks. Currently there is to little gear to look for, just 2 armor sets per tier/sector and without having accesories we only look for weapons right now.
    Speaking of weapons, some sort of low lvl craftable weapon would be nice and fun weapons need to come sooner, rocket launchers or plasma weapons are fun and you can only get them high tier sectors. Also a better way of explaining what does each weapon/ammunition (shoots spread, bounces, glues on ground, etc..) in the weapon sheet would be nice.

    Starbound its a great game, keep the good work.

    I agree with what you said, I add my suggestions.
    Except "more planet, more flowers, MORE MONSTERS, A CAT WHO IS SHOTING A BIG SANDWICH AS BOSS..", I want to be able to fly with a power. (maybe dropped, maybe found in a laboratory..) Why not to fly with a bird..

    Tier system I agree with, but they already said it was placeholder and subject to major changes. Here's to hoping the fractional difficulties actually make a significant difference.

    For the multiplayer thing, yeah. It's annoying. But it's also in a very, VERY early beta/late alpha. I expect this to get better once more important things have been looked at.

    In response to the underground, I agree. Most of the interesting stuff is on the surface. I only go underground if I need ore.

    While more stats would add more depth, I also feel that it's far too early to worry about those and end-game. Most of those are just fluff, and fluff can come later.

    About your cave comment. I've found plenty of caves that seem to go on ENDLESSLY especially on my recent one where I've found a doll house biome that I have YET to get to the end of it just keeps going ON and on and my torches are running lower and lower....It's creepy
