Reproduction?!

I've played a lot of games in my lifetime and I don't see this feature as much anymore... not even in most main and non-mainstream RPG games. What if you could start a family? Think about this... when you escape your home planet when its being destroyed what if you brought your NPCs and a few regular survivors? Once you landed on your new planet and make it your home you can choose which female/male character (female/male NPC or survivor) and help repopulate the world (the male/female NPCs could help with reproduction too). With this reproduction feature you could eventually have a planet thriving with human (whatever you are) civilization and the people can make cities and towns which eventually spawn city vendors and individual rulers and possibly even factions. Each baby born will grow up to be different in every single way (will sort of work like the rocket launcher combinations and possibilities). The babies will also be randomly assigned a name that will be different then anyone else's. When cities and towns spawn it will have background blocks and a whole new background scenery (maybe even new soundtracks play). These towns and cities can be destroyed and can be invaded if enemy invaders come to your planet.

Sounds cool I would also like to be able to breed animals, I normally wound not care about the limitations but it seems more simpler to have the same species to be able to breed with each other rather then a penguin mating with a moose.

 

I think that would be a really cool addition. It would bring more life to the game. (Although we don't know how much life the game has to begin with)

 

That actually sounds like a neat idea! I like the thought of producing new population in the game like that.

 

It kind of gives the game a more realistic view to it.

 

The idea of having the new offspring go on to build cities and such is fantastic. There is so much potential with something like that

 

This idea scares me, because it's just going to end like every time I play Oregon Trail.
Lose my wife to drowning, Lost all my oxen to feed my children, and then embarrass everyone by getting dysentery.

 

I lol'd! I hope we can't get dysentery on Starbound, because if we can, I know its going to happen to me D

 

well if this does get in the game there should be a limit to the amount of people

Yes! I like this one. It also seems pretty do-able and doesn't come close to breaking the game or story. The only thing I have to say is that your kids should be named by you with the option to random it.
