Replantable trees need to be a priority.

Making it renewable, and then adding the proper "cooldown" for the resource to reset would definitely work.

Something like 2-3 days until the trees come back, and 5-7 until they're fully grown could work.

 

I'm sure that the developers will definitely be working for that; hopefully for the next update.
I agree entirely though, I need my renewable wood.

 

I understand this. What I meant was has the fact that there is no feature been said anywhere or are we missing something.

[Edit] I remember now, I read in the feature list Blue put together that seeds are planned. This way you can plant different trees on non-native planets.

 

I think with the amount of randomly generated worlds, it puts emphasis on exploration, and travelling to those worlds for resources. It helps the game stray away from being a Terraria-wannabee.

 

I definitely had some trouble finding useable wood early on. Especially since I thought the giant leaf-trees would give me some (just a ton of plant fiber, which is cool, but not what I was hoping for).

I'd definitely like to see some way to renew trees, but it should be at least somewhat challenging. For now, at the beta level, it's okay.

 

Replantable trees are a must, I am quiet suprised there isnt a way to regrow the three via a sapling, and nothing like "it has to be extra hard, give less resources, grow slower etc." It should be a normal growth rate for tree so you can make a tree farm and just harvest them with ease. And also nothing challanging should be about replanting a tree, it's a must.

 

I've been chopping above the stump in case they regrow.

I might be imagining it but I think trees restock naturally. There are some areas I thought I had cut down, which had trees later on.

 

Tiy mentioned in a stream a few days ago that they were working on 'tree seeds', but the problem is that they wanted people to be able to take trees from one planet, and have them grow with the original appearance on the new planet.
This means creating a seed that retains the information from the tree it dropped from. A little tricky with randomly generated trees. But I'm glad they are going that way because being able to grow a particularly pretty tree or unique colour of wood on your home planet when you claim it would be a big advantage.

So be patient, guys, I'm sure it's on the way, just not in the game yet.

 

Yes they grow quite well, but its more of a plant then a tree only gets about the height of the player if that....but they are good for bananas!

I agree, it's probably just something that is fairly complex to implement and not too high up on their priorities list. Growing trees also means creating assets for the intermediate growth stages/saplings and so forth, so there's a lot of time-intensive work required.

 

Yes ...my human started out with some banana seeds so figured might as well plant them they work well and have had no issue with her eating them.

 

Same here, I have a feeling trees do regrow on their own.

It makes me really sad cutting down the pretty trees, knowing I won't get saplings to be able to see them ever again.

There's coal everywhere from what I gather.

 

If I were playing singleplayer, I don't think I'd have an issue. However, yesterday I hosted a server with 6 people and trees on the planet (as well as the one nearby) disappeared almost immediately. Don't know what the proper solution is. I enjoy that they are a limited resource.
