Now that Raw Wood is out of the picture, I'd like to give my two cents on the matter. Renewable fuel sources, it's a very important topic in the modern world but even more so in Starbound. Your main goal is to fly around space in your fancy spaceboat, scavenging what you can for fuel to go further and see more. With a finite amount of fuel, you'll eventually deplete the coal stocks of entire planets, if you're stranded on a planet you already stripmined of coal, you're kinda gonna have a bad time. But I wouldnt bring this up without a suggestion for a solution, Raw wood.. It's rather easy to turn into coal in the real world so I suggest we get some late game device to process raw wood into coal, eventually (when saplings are added) giving us a renewable source of fuel in the endgame. Although I'm sure the devs have a plan for everything, I'd rather be safe than sorry and offer any suggestions I got, if anyone else has something to contribute to this topic, feel free!
If it's the endgame, why still relying on something as unreformed as coal? How about a distill that can turn organic matter (wood, all kinds of foods, plant fibre, that stuff) into biofuel?
It sound alright for me, for late game however there can be Solar Panels which will charge batteries.
Solar panels and batteries, awesome idea for a ship upgrade! It could take an hour to charge 200 fuel or something similar. The biomatter idea is pretty logical and straightforward too! Lets hope this thread gets a look Edit: However, I think the environmentalists would lynch us all for using carbon based fuel..
1. For me fueling space ships with wood is little too much, just doesn't sounds right to me. 2. We might want, different gravity, weather, day/night cycle duration and everything else to make those universe alive, but let's don't forget that this is game.
Yeah, definitely need a better renewable fuel source unless we can grow trees on planets, or convert wood to charcoal. However, being a sci-fi nerd, it kind of irks me to use coal or wood to power a ship capable of FTL speeds. Hahaha. If that was the case in real life, we'd have a renewable source of fuel to get us to Mars!
id like a plant that you can grow, and not eat as a farm able renewable resource, like Robotech's Protoculture or something
