    No hunger loss.

    Hunger does freeze while sleeping.

    Therefore: Sleep when AFKing.

I think that the hunger bar should work faster then it does already :p I feel as if you are working you would get hungry quicker and thats how it should be in game. To me the hunger system is an essential task that brings life to your character with real dangers of death like we would have in the real world. Brings in a little more immersion then being an immortal never hungry god. Besides would that mean we remove the Vast amount of food in the game too? it would have no purpose then like it does now.

  3. Hunger system makes sense if they add bonus for keep us well fed up, like a special buff that increases several stats. It's one step for make the system.

Remove this system of the game hurts the part where the game is already too much easy, no real challenge.

True. But, I mean, the game doesn't have to be fun, either. :p

Now, gentlemen, I know I am acting rather egocentric, but did anyone notice this suggestion of mine?
After some thinking personally I prefer influence over buff length than intensivity, seeing as then being well fed allows to decrease the amount of clicks on bandages and so on, but that's up to you, ladies and gentlemen!
I mean, really, personally I'm rather against food influencing DPS or damage resistance as they are, since that would turn all battles into bufffest with little requirement of actual skill, just stubbornness.

Remove? No. Improve? Yes. A hunger system is a good thing, but as of right now it's just kinda there. You get so much food with so little effort that you have to actively avoid eating all the piles of food you got by pure accident to get below half hunger. It's just there to have food steal an extra inventory slot right now.

Maybe, but in the grand scheme of the game, is the hunger system really that big? Can't tweaks to it come later on after they get the more important pieces of the game done?
I don't think the player has to be gifted with incentives the whole step of the way. Especially on a hunger system, where you get already get benefits from crafting food from the generic food items you find.

Well... Yeah, probably. I get the feeling that the survival mechanics will eventually give way to more important features and are actually pretty minor in the grand scheme of things. However, they have the distinction of being exposed to players right now when the game is pretty bare-bones, so it likely feels like they play a bigger role than they actually will. By the time the game is finished it might not be a big deal at all.

That said, we can only really critique things that are currently in the game. As a result the things that stick out as "needing improvement" end up being the focus of most discussions. It's hard to say if it will matter in the long run or not.

Actually, a mod wouldn't need to be made per se. The developers can include these things but simply make it optional. It's just strange to me how developers these days are shying further and further away from options and I have no idea as to why. They all seem to claim that their goal is attracting the widest player base that they can...weeeell, that means options. Period. As I've said in other posts, I like games that lean more towards the "hardcore" side of things. However, I'm also aware of the fact that other people don't. So, make such hardcore aspects an option and be done with it! I get to play my way, others get to play their way, everybody's happy. But, as I also believe, this is still a developing game so maybe we'll see such happen. It just depends on how serious the devs are about making this game as successful as it can possibly be.

I never once claimed that the devs are actively trying to punish AFKers, I'm saying that's the only thing the current hunger mechanics do well. And, therefore, hunger is poorly designed.

You make it seem like hunger is the only thing that punishes AFKers, creatures can, other players can. If you are going AFK enough that you character dies from it, you can just log out quickly to go do what you need to do, then log back in.

. . . It's not about afkers. It's the fact that the current system falls short of its potential, due to the stipulations I stated above, and can be vastly improved.

It's a hunger system, why should there be potential on a slightly generic gameplay mechanic?

Because it can be made more fun? All game features should be improved upon if at all possible, and this is beta after all, so I fail to see any reason to your response.

There shouldn't be any potential in the hunger system, as it is a hunger system, there should be more potential in the food items instead.

In case you failed to notice, the game is missing things. It's early beta. A beta without all of the content. Some of the game is still being built, so I imagine they didn't put a shallow cooking system in here for zero reason at all. Although I will admit that it is helpful to point out to the developers what folks want from the cooking/hunger system now, just in case they didn't fancy improving it much.

I personally don't want to see crafting recipes that effect things for 30 seconds, or 1 minute or something tedious like that. More low level buffs for longer durations would be more useful imo.

I'm actually wondering why no modders have yet made a mod that disables the hunger system.

A cool improvment I can think of which actually makes you care about food etc

Low food - Lower energy regeneration, Lower movement speed, Lower jump height
    Good Food - Default attributes
High Food - Higher energy regen, higher movement speed, higher jump speed (possibly giving health regen too as I think there needs to be more ways to heal yourself)
Too Much Food - Lower movement speed, lower jump speed (basically fatigued)

Just a thought could make food a bit more interesting

Some food does give a bonus. Burgers restore a lot of HP and energy. Carrot bread restores a lot of HP and also makes you run faster and jump higher for a period of time.

I don't even use bandages or medkits any more, carrot bread is all you need.
