Remember the first ETA?

Mid-February, 2012. Starbound officially surfaces the internet - projected ETA was fairly optimistic.
    "End of Summer 2012".

    Dohoho. Those were the days.
No, I'm not saying they should rush it - they DID say they may (and did) want to take extra time to get everything JUST right.

But damn, I wouldn't expect them to slip for what will seem like a whole year.
Maybe that shows us how dedicated they are to development of the game and it shows the true undying passion to bring the people content of masterwork quality.

Now, if you excuse, I have more hype to build - Starbound here, Dwarf Fortress there, and maybe also The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth thrown in for a good measure.

  2. It is true that they have delayed the Starbound in the past, but I honestly don't mind waiting for the game longer than it has been speculated this time. I'm looking forward to Starbound, yes, but I just don't feel in a rush. Not to mention that the more they hold onto it, the better it'll be. In theory, at least, but I have hopes. :p

Considering the breadth of the response to Starbound's announcement, this isn't all that surprising.
The number of features has grown with the growth of the community, due in part to fan-input, and partly due to the growth of the community (bigger fanbase, more confidence).

This is a shot in the dark, but perhaps Redigit killing Terraria's development right at its peak (for over a solid year) was a strange boon for Starbound.
He made a lot of Terraia fans angry right before Starbound was announced and lead by Tiy.

    Now, it's slowly coming together.

Just hoping they can get preorders up ASAP so that they can work on it full time, and recieve feedback on the actual thing.

Still there's quite a lot of stuff lacking before it could be called a beta, which is supposedly what they want to offer for pre-orderers.

Personally though I wouldn't mind if they went for alpha fund route instead, even if that meant a delay for the final product but a more refined one at that.

The way I see it, is in the end, the wait time will be much more than worth it. The hype indeed is a torture, but the dedication and effort from them will be more than what we could have ever dreamed of.

ha ! you can be sure it wont. some of the devs literally putted theire life and future on the line to ensure they could work on it full-time.
i remember the post tiy did saying some of them were even churning on life savings.

thats also why having any sort of pre-order soon so that they can get some money to help them is so important. pre-order beta or not

Terraria's being updated again now. They actually just released some new screenshots yesterday that look pretty cool. The update may be out before Starbound and can help tide us over until it gets here.

Well I get the feeling they didn't plan Starbound to be as big of a game as it is going to be now.
Plus, i'm pretty sure that even when the game is finished, they will feel as if more could be added to it.
For this kind of game, the sky is not even the limit. the universe is endless, and that is where the limit is, you just need to know when to stop :p

Oh well, I'm just glad they are taking their time, and nobody is rushing them.
Many games I feel would've been better if they had more time. (Except Duke Nukem)

I know. That's why I said "Killed it for a year" (in essence).
Methinks Redigit saw the writing on the wall.
Now, I still love Terraria, and I have nothing personal against Redigit, but Starbound looks to completely blow Terraria out of the water.

Nonononono it's not gonna be vaporware, there's too much proof and dedication to know that.
    Yeah... good times :p
With all the content that we can see that they are busting out and the new roadmap, I don't really mind the wait.
It really shows how dedicated Chucklefish is to their game and they want it to be the BEST game ever for us.

    The hype still grows...
