release?

What i mean by that is will we open the forums one day and find ourselves finally able to throw money at STARBOUND or will there be some sort of day/week/month countdown to release?

 

Well, I think they'll tell us when RELEASE is going to be.

But actually for the Beta I think it'll be real spontaneous. Just like "Hey guys, the Beta is done!"

 

I have reason to believe that the game's release will be announced well in advance. I think I read somewhere that the game's release date will be announced in March?

 

I 100% think we will get a release date before we get the game, so I don't think it'll be spontaneous.

Yeah I tend to agree that chucklefish will tell us before release.

No date or month has been specified. Your source is unreliable/mistaken.

 

The release date will be announced in the Starbound Chronicle. We don't know even though. An the first issue of the Starbound chronicle comes out in March.

 

I don't think they said will be a release date, they basically said when it's done it's done.

 

Eventually they'll get to a point where they have all of the systems implemented and most of the major (and many minor) bugs worked out. At that point they'll probably appoint a release date and use most of the time remaining to continue with bug testing or start on a feature they want to add post-release.

 

They said that when they had a release date they would email it to te people who are subscribed to the Starbound Chronicle.

 

All this speculation on release dates and ETA's makes me feel like a little kid in the car going, "Are we there yet?... Are we almost there now then?...How about now?"​

I would figure we'd get fair warning as it makes more sense from a financial aspect to give your waiting prospective buyers notice to start saving up their cash. Besides, if they do a Beta, It's likely we'd get info about how that process will go and that would mean letting us know beforehand, or at least that's how I've seen most companies go about it.​

 

Try reading what he posted before assuming he's asking for a release date.

The OP was asking whether Starbound's release will be a surprise for the next day or have an announced release date in the future. He wasn't asking for the release date..

 

Suggestion for a better title: 'How do you think the release will be announced?'

 

I have a feeling that chucklefish does not take pleasure in watching us squirm, my money bets on them telling us very shortly before beta,but then announcing full release date several months before it goes live.

 

All I know is that I'm checking daily to see if anything is announced yet or not. I say that I can't wait...and then am sad because I don't have a choice in the matter.

 

I guess we'll be told in advance for the release of the full game, but for the beta... hmm hey maybe a surprise soon ?

The only thing that this proves is that Chucklefish is maybe looking at Steamworks integration.

 

I never told it was a proof that it'll be out any time soon. It was just a "maybe".
