So it's been confirmed that for at least two races (Apex and Avian), you flee your home planet to escape your race's oppressive society. But what if you like that society? What if you want to live among 1984esque ape people, or religious fundamentalist birds? Should the option to reintegrate into your society of origin be available?

Sure find a world with an apex settlement on it. Never leave.
Sorry citizen, you don't have the proper papers for star-travel.

Thats the great thing about a sandbox. Make an apex city on your own planet and role play that you're just another citizen

Chances are that society will exist on another planet with the same race, so maybe you can encounter it still. Or you could build your own, or maybe someone will make a mod. All your Orwellian needs should be covered regardless.

What would you do after returning to your homeworld? Perhaps engage in quests to spread gorilla dogma or enter into politics on your Courescant like planet (that is, if you roll a glitch character)

well maybe you were forced to leave regardless because of a apocalypse

The screenshot in yesterday's daily update says that the Minknog only destroyed the apex rebellion, not that the apex homeworld was destroyed. You're likely fleeing because you were a rebel or you just wanted to leave the apex society for good. The avians story doesn't start with an apocalypse either, it begins with them letting their friendship with the glitch falter and the beginnings of a war vs. the florans: http://playstarbound.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/avianlore_pdf.pdf.

That is what multiplayer is for. Join a server with like minded apex/avian players and develop an oppressive community where one of you gets to boss the rest around haha

From what I understand, you "leaving your society" is so that the player can do as they please. (Every race has a exile thing to my knowledge.) You become an exile from your homeworld, but there are other worlds with your race on it, so I imagine by doing quests and such for them you could reintegrate back into it if the player so chooses too.

I think it sounds like a cool idea, maybe they could do some kind of post-release addition to story mode; now that you've conquered the galaxy, you go back and take on the Miniknog to free the Apex or something like that.

Do whatcha want! Just roleplay that you disagreed with the introduction or some such. Use your imagination. ;)

Also, the use of voting yes or no is technically "Yea or Nay" with the official use, but it is found that "Yay" is becoming the informal eggcorn. :geek:

You shouldn't be able to reintegrate, because the whole purpose of being kicked out or escaping was that it allowed you the freedom to be this player-controlled free-roaming adventurer alive in the sandbox of the universe.

Take the Glitch for example, you are something that the society calls "wrong" because you have the freedom to move on past being stuck in the medieval lifestyle. It is literally impossible to come back because the rest of the Glitch think that you are inferior and malfunctioning.

The same is for the rest of the races, getting back into your society takes away the freedom from your character, so you might as well just watch a series of cutscenes going through the life of your character in the restrictive society, whether that's oppressive religion, oppressive government, or being stuck in the past or as a savage.

I'm sure as BUTTS gonna roleplay a glitch that is stuck in the medieval times mindset/lifestyle! *Anarchy mode engaged* You can't make me do anything!! :viking:

If I learned anything from Fallout and Fallout 2, when you'll return after all your adventures, you'll be too badass for them to accept you!

I love the lore of those games but having not grown up with them I could not take the sluggish combat, this is coming from a guy who can play classic xcom all day. It's just how the characters move and the interface. I don't mind the graphics but a reboot with the same story and management system but with new graphics and better combat flow would be nice, it could still be top down like torchlight II.
