I think this is a pretty clever way to work respawning into the story of the game. Can´t wait to see the respawning of the other races. (Hopefully one will have a Doctor Who like Regeneration)

An egg incubator for avians? A plant pot for florans?

"Does these units have a soul?"

I'm not sure why people are in such a tizzy over cloning as the method of reincarnation in a videogame. A work of fiction is not bound by our own biased perceptions of reality.

Furthermore, why would Avians be "reborn" through eggs and Florans through seeds? You are not creating life anew but simply replicating the fleshy (Feathery? Leafy?) avatar of the explorer. Nothing more, nothing less. Rebirth through the beginning of development is unnecessary when you can recreate the body proper.

As for people worrying about "souls" and "consciousness" I shall quote myself on a related discussion in another forum for an already mentioned game. Although that discussion was essentially "why men play was women in Eve". Similar principles do apply, however. :p

well of course im going to try not to die, and play smart: but dying will most likely happen in some way
however, after dying-having to re-equip all your gear is annoying, you can't tell me you'd be cool with it over and over again o_O

i don't know for a fact if the player will have to re-quip their gear after death, but it would be annoying to have to do that each and every time

the colored line is what would really make me irritated: i can't stand that bs in minecraft, luckily terraria had an option for it, but in minecraft there is no option and i can never find a mod for it -__-
i would assume SB would have a difficulty selector/mode selector that determines that kinda stuff

while it may not bug you now, if it is part of the game, i bet that it will start to get on your nerves at least a few times d:

    Perhaps YOL∞?

Also, I just thought of something, perhaps that machine that clones you could also be used to change your character's appearance after creation?

Why alter with knives and tools, when you can reprogram your next bodies appearance directly! :rainbow:

  11. When doctor make mistake with a knife, you may get a terrible scar. When program make mistake with your DNA, you may re-incarnate as a two-headed giraffaoctopus. Or a carnivorous potato.
    Yesss you're right it's much funnier!:rainbow:

I hope my DNA will remain the same during such process... I mean... it's even a part of my username! I don't want that changed.
(Logic. I care for my name but not for getting tentacles and other terrible deformities).

Exactly! Who wouldn't want to be a carnivorous potato! Florans are already half way there. :3
Besides, if the dna is corrupted, just do a system restore! And never install Norton on your cloning machine...

Norton has detected an issue 'Win32.Trojan.Generic 1' in DNA_Active.clone and repaired it.
Norton has detected an issue 'WS.Reputation 1' with DNA_Backup.clone and has repaired it.

Meh, leave it any longer and it will end up detecting an issue in your life support and repairing it.

Perhaps after a few dozen times of dying I could imagine it getting a little annoyed and yeah I always hated that in minecraft

Even after all this time, this is still cool to look at. I want to have two people respawn at the same place at the same time. For science, of course.

If that is how teleportation is in some sci-fi, it doesn't mean it is in all, and therefore doesn't mean it is in Starbound. Teleportation can be the literal transference of matter from one point to another, not the destruction and replication of said object or person. I don't think Star Trek's teleporation works that way, in what science fiction does teleportation destroy and recreate?
