That says you can't teleport out of the cave normally but that doesn't prohibit an item that would allow you to teleport out of caves...

First off, what's the point of a flying car if you're going to drive on a road, and second off:
This is a real hovercar/speeder thing.

Anyways, as I was saying, the cloning technology exhibited here is just so outrageous that if we have the technology to do that, how can we not have invented teleporter stuff.

well first off that thing is a prototype that has been around for a while but never really explored, and second, ever heard of technological discrepancy ? http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SchizoTech
to follow up, this is a sci-fi game, cloning is on-par for the course. also, cloning and teleportation are too VERY different field of science, were talking about macro-biology and quantum physics. not exactly the same.

and again, traditional teleportation present the same problem as traditional cloning : the person coming out the device isint the same.

overall, im sure most people will agree that "cloning and conscience transfer" is a pretty good idea as "instant-before-depth teleportation" dosent carry the same feeling. the former feel like you really did a mistake and died, having to pay for it somewhat while the latter just feel like "lol i can do what i want, scotty will beam me if i screw up"

p.s.: by the way, roads will always exist even with flying junk, its to avoid chaotic and potentially dangerous situation. airplanes dont fly willy-nilly, they actualy have to follow specific routes

I like this, but i like the idea each races cloning method sounds like it's going to be different.

oh wow, i forgot about that quote. it kinda answers everything dosent it :p

and i fully agree with that, even if theres high-end technology, death and penalties for it should be a real thing. i dont want to see "attack of the clones"

I see what you mean now, you said hovercraft before which is an entirely different type of vehicle. This is trying to replicate the Star Wars landspeeder which is a much more difficult undertaking with our current technology and probably not the most energy-efficient mode of transportation.

For the flying car: The point is you have a car to drive around normally for your day-to-day activities but you can also use it to travel long distances more quickly by air. I've seen one with folding wings that compacts down to the size of a normal car upon landing (a very slow process) and also one designed as a VTL with 4 adjustable turbines. Neither were terribly practical or affordable (not to mention whatever government red tape you'd have to slog through for air travel) but the technology is rapidly improving.

well i don't plan on dying, but i do expect to die
i don't want the game to be so easy i can clear it with barely any challenge and difficulty and never die

i want to die at least a few times, im going to make mistakes or come across an enemy that is way above my current gear level etc.
i want the game to be challenging but not cheap

regardless, even if someone only dies a small handful of times, having to re-equip all your gear after death is just annoying

now that is how you take down a band of naysayers peacefully :) cloning on death vs achievment for not dying not sure where i stand on this on one hand i wanna see what cloning is like for all the races but on the other it be pretty sweet for a never dying achievment you sir have given me a dilemma its gonna be an epic game

well yes I would say so all the more reason to try not dying I mean sure your bound to die on occasion that's a given however I don't see you doing it a whole lot to make it really annoying unless your just really trying to die or are dumb enough to go to places well above your tir and die contently what I would find annoying is to die and drop all your items having to go back and risk your life more in order to get said Items simple dying and having to put them on in your inventory doesn't really bug me

for me it would just feel weird if your entire crew justs randomly accepts a clone xD

You're not "just" a clone, your consciousness is uploaded to the new body. At least I hope it works that way. Tiy mentioned it, but I dunno if he confirmed it for certain exactly. :cautious:

So, I'm not going to read this whole thread, that's too much reading for me. But I do know a few people have raised a concern about or dislike of "cloning' - that it ruins the role playing for them, or whatever reasons. I had a thought. Really, there can be many ways that you "come to be" again post-death, it sounds like the main quarrel is the word cloning. It entails that once you die, you are never you again, to some. That makes sense to me, not agreeing or disagreeing. So instead of making it be cloning, why not remove that 'rp-unfriendly' terminology (clone/cloning) and using something like revive, heal, restore or reconstructed (I could think of more words, but too tired) - that way, it entails that your broken or burned or whatever corpse is brought back to the ship physically, and then repaired (wounds healed, organs restored, all things brought back to either a pre-departure state, or, to the state you were in right before you died. It's not cloning, it would be a literal restoration of your tissue/memory/body/items. Thoughts?

Hmmm while I have nothing against cloning as a form of respawning this way of thinking or a implementation of an actual method dose sound equally great the thought of your body being transported into the chamber before or at the instant of death and reanimated sounds good instead of your character being cloned he/she is just rapidly healed I like this

Not sure if anyone has mentioned it... But teleporting in itself destroys one body and creates a new one at a specific location. This new body just has everything in the same place as the original one, but is a copy.
So if you're thinking of some kind of consciousness transfer through teleporting, then you might as well think the same for cloning.
