Regenerative Planet Mechanic Option

Ok well i was thinkin and it seems one of the main issues with haveing a Homeworld where you would spend alot of time in, is the fear of running out of resorces.

Say your mining around the core of the planet or collecting materials to build with or craft with. Well eventully (long term thinking here) you will hollow out the planet and have to relocate youe homeworld again.

What if there was some sort of material that regenerated its self to keep the planet dense?

It could be a trival material that woudlnt give you an advantage nessicary but just made it so you would have to redig sometimes. or build some support beams in your tunnels to prevent if from regrowing? Or it could be a good resource for building structures that you can have a decent supply of. Which ever works.

Just a though on long term planet habitation. Since it is often a hassle to relocate to a new world when you clean out the one you live on.

Hmm... I'm kind of partial on this. Couldn't you just gather resources from another planet and keep building onto your existing structures located on your home world?

 

Obviously, the solution is to drain other planets of their natural resources, not yours.

As i said, it didnt have to be a resource, it could just be a standard surface material.

I have to agree with the Loot other Planets thing. Its just like any good alien movie that exists! The Aliens have run out of resources on their planet and are scouring the universe for other planets with resources. In short: if you wanna keep your homeland lookin good, don't mine it barren!

You could have volcanoes erupting adding more land mass.

I do like this, as llava would erupt and cool and thus create new blocks

well it just keeps the world dynamic.

With procedural worlds and items and mobs, it would make sence to have worlds have more flair to them as well.

 

with geysers and volcano and landslides and Sinkholes and Title waves and tsunamis and Solar Flares that Scorch the surface oft he planet and fries anything on it.

 

Given the fact we are talking about a whole planet I do not think they should regenerate resources that are non renewable. Personally if you mine the planet dry then it should remain as such in my opinion. We will have a whole universe to explore, and perhaps other planets trade with. So it would take away a need of space exploration if a planet had infinite resources. Also if you mined a whole planet clean, and still need resources for that planet, you musta built something hella huge or resource hungry lol.
