Yeh, this game definitely seems like it is going to be more in depth than Terraria.

 

We really need more depth because in Terraria after you have the best gear you don't have much to do in the game.

 

The game is very much functional. The devs have been conducting all of their own testing as of now, but the screenshots you've seen are in game. They haven't made any decisions on beta, they'll make an announcement when the details have been decided. Just keep your eye here on the forums

 

I'm liking the fact that even once you're "maxed out" the hardest planets are still going to be hard. That's what makes a game fun - something to do once you've reached the apex.

 

Yeh. Terraria was basically Dig > Kill > Get Better Gear > Dig > Kill > Get Better Gear > Repeat. Until you got the best gear, and then you really had nothing to do other than build shit haha xD

 

Remember the great rule of thumb.

In every game nobody will know when the next patch or game will be released.
Even if the release date has been said by the devs it will probably change.
There will probably be a vauge statement as to the release date, but nobody really EVER knows when anything will be released.

This applies to nearly all online forums and communities, and is the answer to your question.

 

The way I interpret the gameplay - Terraria meets space age Spore.

Near endless, if not endless, planets. Pretty sure it was mentioned you can breed monsters or something to that effect.

 

So basically up until release they will just be adding content
more and more content
