Refine Slime to make things

One thing I really though was cool about Terraria is that you could make slime blocks that actually looked decent, nice to build with and make interesting sculptures out of. But with Starbound, the slime looks really disgusting. Digging down into a slime cave biome is just nasty.
I've tried making a little texture reskin for it, but since slime is built differently than just a normal block, it's beyond me on how to make it just look like a square block of blueberry jello or something. Maybe have it in a mod? Blue slime bricks, retexture of the naturally spawning slime blocks to make them look berry flavored, I dunno, just a suggestion!


EDIT: Okay so, instead of changing the SLIME down below, maybe it would just be neat to make gelatin bricks somehow, sugar and dye with something else to make gelatin, and then 2 gelatins to make a gelatin brick, which would be a different color depending on what dye you used. Gelatin just being a flat, block of color. Could even be useful for people who want to build pixel pictures and dont have a flat colored brick to use.

Okay, wow. Different thing, I agree that retexturing the original skin is a bad idea now. Bouncing off of ideas from other posts, it would be a neat MOD idea to be able to mine slime and refine it, and let it be made into more useful things. Maybe something like, a plain gelatin that you can dye using dyes, then make them into gelatin bricks or something that would allow you to bounce off them. Or even a gel you can put on weapons to make them have a poison effect. Something fun like that. No need to get your jimmies rustled because the original idea was a bad one!

Agreed. Slime blocks should drip gunk on you from their undersides.

 

Keep the stuff in the biome itself nasty looking, but allow for a refinery process that lets you make stuff that looks good to build with.

 

Nah, I think it looks fine. Also, I don't really think it looks that disgusting, though I do think it could use a less slimy looking counterpart for building. As you said, less like slime, more like Jello.

I agree. We have plenty of nice shiny happy blocks to build with - let's get some gross stuff in there to mix it up. Why would anyone want slime to be less slimy?

 

I... It's slime. Slime-encrusted. slimy. These are not desirable qualities to have in most people's opinion, why did you think slime would be remotely nice to have around at all?

 

Maybe they should just add Jello blocks that are more aesthetically pleasing. I see no reason to have something called SLIME be pleasant.

 

Well, usually in games, you see goo monsters, or goo other things that just look like jell-o, which I think would be neat to make a water fountain out of, or a big house. I'm still thinking that the turn slime into refined goo would be pretty neat. Maybe like, add sugar and dye to 10 refined gelatin blocks to make it a different colored gelatin brick that you can use to build with.

 

Slime isnt supposed to be clean.
