Say you have a rusty old mech sitting in a corner, collecting dust, but you don't want to just throw it away (that would be wasteful), well why not be able to break it down into spare usable parts? All those old weapons that you aren't using could actually have a use. You could break them down into parts and use them to upgrade old guns, make a new one, or even sell it for more than a rusty piece of junk that it used to be.
Yes! I would love to have something like that in the game. Throwing away stuff always feels like a waste to me.
Could be a great system. Maybe it would make ressources management a living hell (too many "parts" to count) but it could be a efficient solution ^^
This would be Interesting with a way of retrieve the items used to craft such item, or money the items we break, maybe a special NPC for such thing
I don't mind it but only at a real skimpy component retrieval rate - as in between 10 - 20% so one may regain some value from stuff that outlived it's usefulness but there won't be a situation where trading is useless and many quests bring hardly useful rewards as players got enough junk after every longer armed excursion that they can build almost anything they want, barring stuff requiring some unique resources.
Maybe you could use junk to produce some kind of second-hand fuel? That could help with getting rid of stuff and powering your ship a bit. I'm sure you can just sell your junk to Merchants though.
This is a thing that is missing from a lot of games today, and it's a real shame. It's a great idea, and i vote for it to be implemented!
Like Bacon said, you could have an NPC, you turn in 10 scrap and you get weapon/armor crafting materials! I like it!
I'm too manly too recycle. Serious: I don't know.. than I could have a massively strong gun mid game by just throwing everything else out.
