    I'm wondering
it's a good idea recycle things
    Like
I have a wooden sword and a iron one (only examples)
i don't need the wooden sword anymore
    so what i do?
Go to the recycling robot and ask him if he can recycle the wooden sword giving me back half or 3/4 of the materials used to make the sword
(recycling robot is greedy because that he give only half or 3/4)

I think a recycler would be a very useful tool. Just a few things though.

I think it should give back 3/4 of the materials. 3/4 just sounds like a good amount. However, this raises a question. What happens when the item that is recycled only uses 1 of a certain material? Would it give back the item, or just keep it for itself?

Or, what if you could choose what materials you got back? The less of a material used in an object, the more it's worth compared to another object.

So, if you used 100 stone and only 2 wood, then one piece of wood would be worth 50 stone, and taking two pieces of wood would equal 1/2 of the object.

Of course, that would be horribly unbalanced quite often, and I'm sure there's a better solution, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

There should be something like this, however there should be consequences to you trying to do this. Instead of a 3/4 return rate guarantee there should be a large variety of results that come out of it.

A good example would be to scrap a wooden sword through the recycler and in return get a burnt piece of charcoal, or get the wood back, all by chance.

I think between a 80-100% success rate should be implemented, a success would mean the return of 50% of the crafting materials. I dunno. I don't think recycling should be extremely profitable, but at the same time, it should be worth it in comparison to selling or throwing away an item. I like having some sort of success rate though.

Yes, recycle bot gives you some back, but it's random, albiet still pretty useful.

There should be some form of recycling in the game. If you made a sword out of some rare ore but then made a better one later, then you would want to get rid of the old sword. If that old sword only sold for an amount of pixels that isn't worth it, you should definitely be able to scrap it back into the bars or ore (but obviously get less). Found that annoying in Terraria a lot. Maybe there could also be a certain item you only get from recycling weapons that can be used to make other items.

This would be better then just trashing it. c:

Brilliant idea! no longer would we have to throw it in a chest and look at it every so often~ and i agree with the other posters here about the return rates.
