Reason for summoning first boss doesnt make sense (spoilers)

So I spent an hour and a half farming materials for the Distress Beacon. All was good, I summoned him, and died. When I came back down all I got to see was the UFO chasing after a bunch of birds and then despawn right above me. The little penguins were still there. And isnt the entire reason for using the distress beacon is to get help, when I can plenty easy get some coal and fly to the next planet over?

 

That first boss straight spanked me, even with crafted gear and a legendary 2h mace.

 

And where in the hell did the guy in the trailer get a gun?

 

Perhaps you are supposed to max out this tier before going to the next one?

 

He took about 50 iron hunting bow shots without even losing a section of health

 

I didn't even know coal was used to fuel my ship. The little penguin guys spanked me twice so far, probably going to make a new file and try again so I don't have spend more time farming so far away from my spawn point.

 

I agree on this, but I hope that the quest is a placeholder. It seems quite a jump from "make 1 iron bar now, here let me hold your hand wihle you do it" to "ok now farm these 100 more bars and wood and also money". If we had maybe another 2-3 quests, preferably started by exploring and finding clues that tell us about the penguin menace, it would feel much more natural to then try and fight one of these things.

 

Agreed. I walked around quite a ways trying to find some silver and I happened on a little village of robot people. There were different shops, which was cool. I was sad to not see a place to sell items that I had. Is there a way to be able to beam to different places on the planet? I hate walking a far distance, dying, and having to walk miles just to get where I once was.

 

Pixels being money AND a crafting ingredient is a bit... strange. I had plenty pixels for the beacon, but I died and lost most of them.

 

I agree with he guys above me. I spent a long time getting what I needed, for a boss battle I didn't know was gonna happen, just to be destroyed and have to start over. It was really off-putting. It wouldn't be as bad if I didn't have to find all that stuff again to make it. Part of why I want to play this is space exploration, and it's a pain in the butt to even get started exploring.

 

found a merchant on a level 10 planet that sells guns for around 400 pixels, they make the ufo fight a complete joke though so if you want a challenge dont use guns!

left of where you beam down there was an anchor follow it up and at the top is a airship filled with non hostile avians one of witch sells weapons

 

how can that same planet exist in your game..i thought the galaxy was all random?

 

Nope. They're not random, they're procedural. Like Minecraft worlds. If your friend puts in a Minecraft seed and then gives it to you, you get the same world. The coordinates are the "seed" for the planet.

 

I basically had max gear when I fought him and he STILL proceeded to wreak me.

 

Seriously... Think outside the box. This boss was sooooo easy:

But yea, I get that this boss is supposed to be placeholder but... really? At least drop his stats down a bit. I honestly don't even see the point to adding it in this early.

 

A simple solution to this would be making the beacon only vanish if you kill the boss. This was a new player can craft it, get destroyed once and then start to plan revenge straight away, withotu the frustration of farming hundreds more bars.
