Really good game, totally addicted.

I recently purchased Starbound on Steam after a constant debate with myself over if it was worth it or not, at one point I decided to just go for it and I'm extremely happy with my decision. I immediately installed it, set up a server and got a friend to play it with me, we eventually reached the end of progression after 2 days so I went to look at information on updates. After digging through tons of flame and disagreement I found some actual content which was soon to come, mostly a rebuild of the game with overhauls on systems and plenty of new content like ship upgrades, which I am looking forward to the most, but was disappointed over the gap of major "koala" updates since February.

I do agree that Chucklefish has been lacking in providing efficient content updates but that's fine with me I already have over 40 hours on this game and I've reached the end of progression a few times and I still don't mind playing by starting over or just exploring, there's still a lot to find. I also got another friend to buy the game too, and just recently managed to capture a cool pet which I am keeping in my ship. The only problem I have run into is that there isn't really a need to settle on a planet, I hope that future updates will provide incentives to doing to.

I think this is a great game as it is right now and it has tons of potential. Chucklefish can take all the time they want if they keep adding more content like what's currently in the game.

 

in the next update you will be able to rent houses to NPCs as a way of progression, if thats not enough reason to build then nothing is

 

Remember, if you start to get bored we have mods that add in FLUFFEH space raptor playable characters, an IKEA knockoff, and more. Also we have some meta games going, you can help us learn more about a mysterious race of aliens that seem to speak in a bizarre tongue or help a poor player find his pet monster Derrick, who's species has been missing since he great final player wipe.

 

TBH that doesn't sound interesting at all.. there should be perks to having a house, like some sort of renewable resource or something else that would make it worthwhile to have/take care of a house.

 

One of my favorite things to do in Starbound is just running around and collect monsters. Because it's incredibly rare to find the same monster, it's nice to know how special your monster is.

With that said, I also hope they never add a DNA splicer to the game because it would just ruin the satisfying thrill of just finding new and unique creatures.

 

I kind of hope they do, but monsters created with that have some kind of tag or something to identify them as artificial

I am personally excited about progressing through farming -- but I know to other people that's like a snoozefest lol

 

Yep. Everyone likes different things.

 

Farming.

Farming plus villager NPCs plus having a cool looking permanent base is why I'd do it.

Farming would have to be worth it though, like rare plants and foods etc;

 

Now add some mods to the game. Look at stuff like Frackin' Flora and the Gun Assembler!

When you get tired of that, try modding the game yourself!

 

I've been addicted to starbound for such a long time.

 

I'm excited about checking out all of the different ways to progress through the game. I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is how they plan on expanding the game after Starbound 1.0.
