Really Chucklefish? Really?

So after much waiting and delay, the beta is finally announced. I wish I could say I was happy about it.

Which one of Chucklefish's guys sat at the conference table and said, "Here's an idea. Let's release the beta... On finals week! That way, our target audience won't have time to play it!"

Really Chucklefish? Really? Thank you for robbing me of the opportunity to participate in this glorious event, I was really looking forward to it.

 

After finals week comes about 4-6 weeks off from school. Plenty of time to play Starbound. I think you will survive.

I'm sure there's people everywhere that have something at one point or another that they would believe makes a particular time a poor time to release the beta - if Chucklefish were to base their release around everyone's life, the game would never be released. Not everyone has finals - a fair number of people who are looking forward to Starbound are adults, and a fair amount aren't in University or College yet. Yes, there are some who are (myself included), but you can't really blame them for releasing the game now since they feel it's at a stage that is releasable in some public form and that will satisfy people who have been waiting forever for it. Just plan your study time and gaming time accordingly and you'll be okay. You need breaks from studying, and you need breaks from gaming.

Dude, some places don't have finals this week. I also don't think they targeted finals week to be their beta release.
I can understand it's annoying, but seriously chill... you sound like your going to beat a baby seal.

Thankfully, the finals here aren't for two weeks yet. Got the long straw it seems.

 

Sucks, but that's your own bad luck. Has nothing to do with the devs. For me, the beta comes out 1 day after my day off, so instead of being able to enjoy it my full day off, I have to wait a week of working, knowing a full day before hand could have been spent playing </3 It's depressing but it's my own bad luck, not the devs problem However.. I'm considering calling in sick...

 

Target audience was high schoolers? Wouldn't have guessed it.

I actually thought the target was around 15+ or 16+
I have seen tons of people on the forums that are definitely older than 18

 

Uh... so they should release it right before black Friday sales? Or should they wait and release it right before Christmas? Or they could wait even longer and release it right before new year... ? I don't think they could time it much better than they have.

 

Quit yer belly aching. You're not the only one in that situation and while I'm sure it sucks, you will have plenty of time when you're not taking your final to play. It's like me saying "thanks Chucklefish for releasing on a Wednesday when I have to work till Friday! Now I have to wait until the weekend to play boo hoo."

Sucks to be you, I guess. Meanwhile, I've been out of school and working two jobs, and I'm fortunate enough to not work on Wednesday.

On that note, if it wasn't obvious it was going to be on the day after Steam sales so it doesn't get overshadowed, then yeah. And any later, people would be too busy spending time with family and such, most likely.
