I would like to see in Starbound an Inventory like Resident Evil 4 have, Items have varying size requesting and ability to expand the inventory. Screen of inventory in RE4:
Why. Why in Starbound. When you're picking up shit all the time! [Besides all the nostalgia of rearranging things till every little thing fits right, @ ^ @] It would definitely be an interesting addition, dunno if it'd more interesting than annoying.
I would despise that so much. I like keeping my inventory clean and organized, but not to an extent to a jigsaw puzzle.
my brain would hurt...it hurt trying to fit that big fish into my inventory in the first go...i don't want to do it in starbound..though...i could see it as a decoration while placing things on walls and such.
If you wanted a realistic inventory, you could give each object a weight and a volume, and have the characters have limited volume they can carry, and have negative effects for increasingly high weight. Items worn or in hands would, obviously, have weight but no volume. You could increase the volume each character can carry by wearing items such as backpacks, and the negative effects of high weight would be decreased by strength or something.
Well considering the fact that I'll end up holding stacks of 250 stone blocks in my inventory, because thats how these games always work, I'd say NO to that.
I never said it was good, only that it was realistic. I can't really think of a realistic inventory that would be fun for this game, but I have seen games that have pulled off the type of inventory I used as an example fairly well. Note: It's a roguelike, not anything like this.
hahah thats not very fair, in terraria (im not sure what time period) we can carry about 99 chairs and table in our non existant backpack! but in starbound (future) we will be limited to what we carry, no thats not right
No, if anything I'd like to be able to be able to store a near endless amount of things into my "hammer space".
But terraria doesnt matter... as Starbound isnt its sequel. They are different games. EIther way I dont agree with this suggestion, though
Realistic inventory? I don't see that as realistic, if anything, it's annoying inventory management from what I've experienced in other games. "Uhm, oops this item doesn't seem to fit, but I have space for tinier items *tosses into trashcan*" I mean seriously... It's just unecessary. Want a realistic but fun inventory management? Give us the ability to pack vanity items and other cloth into one space, like you would in reality pack your bag to save up space for larger objects. So like instead of 2 seperate clothings laying about in your inventory, you could put those 2 together to save a space. Not only this but actual backpacks could add some fun as well as realism, they would have different amounts of inventory space. And also possibly different functions. The ultimate bag would be some kinda futuristic compressor bag, or a bag that makes the items into particles to save space, the items would become "particles" or "pixels" but you'd still be able to turn them back into solid form unless you added the "pixels" to your wallet.
Bad idea seems a little harsh, let's say unanimously underappreciated in a relatively small pool of people.
Those were the inventories the last time they showed off them. They said they wanted you to never be able to take all the things you want to take on the first travel.
