Reactors... how to build one?

This is more of a feedback than anything.

I have see in the thread about showing houses what appear to be a reactor core used to simulate the energy supply of the house. I understand that there isn't really reactors in the game, but I liked the idea, at least visually.

So, any of you guys have a sugestion for parts to be used to try and "build" an reactor core?

 

Plasma discs from Apex labs always struck me as that type of thing.

The most advanced furnace (I forget its name) also looks really power-plant-y.

I'd personally recommend trying to put the design largely in the background (maybe with some pipe blocks from sewer dungeons running to/from it?) as well.

 

Magnetic Crucibles do look kinda like some sort of advanced particle reactor core. Consider using Outpost Tanks as coolant resevoirs, and making liberal use of Light Metal and Reinforced Tech Blocks in your construction. I also second Aeronauts suggestion of Heavy Pipe blocks - paint them an appropriate color, of course.

 

Glitch sewer tanks, outpost tanks, apex stasis pods look like they could do the job, provided you use blocks around it to simulate a reactor core like location.
As a matter of fact, I'm working on my Frozen planet F.U.E.L station as we speak. Maybe I'll upload some pictures.

 

Please I'd like to see what you come up with. I was thinking of using crystal and erchius crystals but the erchius crystals I placed.... were not like the ones in the Mining facility. I was rather... disappointed.

 

I've got three reactor versions I've come up with.... I'll have to find them and post them for ya.

 

Ok here are a few quick ones I had experimented on a while back. Had to find the planet. They are all smaller styles to fit on ships.

First one is an old school reactor core style.

I used the "force cell" item as the core, with piping and tanks for the water system.


Next is my version of an arc reactor core.

A very simple design, using the forcefield door as the power link.

And finally, a crystalline power core.


Not quite content with this one... but It gets the idea across.


Hope this helps with some ideas. They are not very big, but they work for small structures and ships.

Cool designs guys, it gives me lots of ideas but I am having trouble finding the blocks used in some of then. What places I need to "plunder" to grab those blocks?

What is a reactor?

 

Oh, these are so cool! I think I'm gonna' try building one now...

 

It's a central structure for generating power. In Starbound, it's just a way to make something LOOK like it generates power... for only mods produce powered items.

 

Are the outpost microdungeons that have the Lunar Base Blocks still in 1.0? I can't find any (please help on where to find)
