Reactive Techs

Currently, we have two types of Techs: Active (you press a key and they activate) and Skins (which are a bad idea, if you ask me.)

I am suggesting a third category: Reactive Techs! Reactive Techs react to an event, then do something, although they can have very long cooldowns.

Here are a few example reactive techs:

    Emergency Stim Injector
When your health drops down to below 20%, you regain 50% of your health over 5 seconds.
    Cooldown: 5 minutes

    Reflection Shield
When hit by a ranged projectile, you have a 15% chance to reflect it back at the attacker for 50% damage.
Cooldown: 3 seconds (only if successful)

    Electric Shield
When hit by a physical attack, you have a 15% chance to inflict 50% damage to the attacker with a 15% chance of stunning them for 1 second.
Cooldown: 3 seconds (only if successful)

    Emergency Bubble
When about to take fall damage, you bounce away unharmed, instead.
    Cooldown: 1 minute

    Force Blast
When your health drops to below 30%, you emit a blast of force, damaging and knocking away all nearby enemies and projectiles.
    Cooldown: 3 minutes

    Automatic Defibrillator
When you are killed, you have a 10% chance to revive at 50% health.
    Cooldown: 10 minutes.

Reactive Techs should hopefully introduce a new element of customization to the gameplay and make techs more than simply navigation enhancers and (poor) progression restrictions.

    DarkHypno Subatomic Cosmonaut

I like it. I think maybe these effects would be better suited to armor or items though. It would be pretty deviant than techs current functioning. Even then, I like the idea of creative effects that aren't on command!

    Gevouden likes this.

Brilliant ideas, The stim pack tech can come with a green stim pack tech for energy too!

  4. Arcstar99

    Arcstar99 Orbital Explorer

    I don't see why not
