it is a basic idea. but its one that devlopers never seem to add. in a sense its more like a reminder than a suggestion as its quite likely that it was planned anyway and you are right its not really important but appearance never is, its just nice to have and can be the difference between a poor game and a brilliant game and somebody needs to think of the basic little ideas. sometimes we can get so caught up in innovative ideas sometimes we forget the little things which make a game great. glad you replied as it gave me a chance to move this thread to the top and im happy you like the idea.
This would be interesting because maybe it would be easier for certain more technologically advanced races to change their genes like the apex. But the Florans would have to learn how to do it.
i think it should be eqaully easy for different races to change thier appearance after they start. but perhaps there can be a way to change appearance based on race. for example, all races start with different crafting recipes, and can craft chests which look different to the other races perhaps each race can start with a different recipe for a drawer. and we can change our appearance by using this drawer.
i was thinking that most of the time we will be wearing armour. so should we just snip this idea down to races and hair styles? or keep full re-customisation?
Hopefully the armors in Starbound are more "Open". In terraria your character's appearance only showed at the very start but once you got armor the only things visible are eye and skin colors. Your clothes are pretty much obsolete after like 2 hours of play.
