Hello fellow Starbounders, I've been using a few mods here and there and I am very impressed with the skill and dedication of the current mods available. I don't use many but I would like to suggest a mod and I hope that someone with more skill than me (won't be hard to find) can undertake this request. I like the bugs that float around so you can catch them, it's a good addition but I would like to see other small critters in the game that add to the ambiance of it. Specifically, I would like to see rats. I know that's a weird request but I love me some rodents and it would make dungeons and Glitch castles really feel more alive. I'd also like to be able to have a persistent rat or two on my ship if that's possible, or even a non-combat pet rat that can follow me around, or even a back-slot vanity item of a rat. If anyone could do this I would love you forever and I can do the spriting for it no problem I just have no technical knowledge to implement it. A black rat with red eyes scampering and sniffing around would be awesome... Also, I think alien rats for different world would be cool too. If you just want a pet rat - you can just use this http://community.playstarbound.com/...custom-pet-template-for-modders-artists.2900/ Follow the Simple step and all you need to do is sprite it.
I appreciate being pointed in such a useful direction but looking over that mod page's instructions already has me lost. I am extremely un-savvy with computers and I am asking if someone could do this for me since I have no clue how. I know it's a long shot for someone to take something as obscure as rats all that seriously but if you never ask you'll never get what you want. Thanks again Swatelite!
Just download the mod - there will be a sprite sheet. Replace the sprite with your rat. Use all the frames same as the sprite sheet. With the same size of frame When your done just give me a hollar in the thread.
