So, any chances of getting rid of the "hey! go to planet at X, Y and walk left to find a weapons dealer!" thing?
I mean, random universe with really random worlds? (aka, planets with random seeds)

As far as I'm aware, you can change the seeds for your sectors in one of the config files, giving your server/local game different planets,

The X,Y is the seed. That's about as random as you can get it unless we add seeds for the seeds. Then seeds for those seeds Seeds! Seeds everywhere!

I'm no techie, but I remember reading several sources that computers can never be truely random. They must have direction. The number of possibities a computer can generate is ultmiatley limited, but its so large that one person will probably never see all possibitlies in their lfetime.

If you go to Starbounder, it was quoted the game (befre it hit beta) had 14 quadrillion planets. Upon release, it will have 477 quadrillion. That's 477,000,000,000,000,000.

I, would think at least, that all games that use RNG for things are limitied, but we never see them all. Even games like Diablo/Torchlight may seem random with the maps, but they may only be because the game doesn't give you the option to manually give a seed.

Even for minecraft, though the chances are so ridiculously small, it's POSSIBLE for 2 people to get the exact same world, if they "randomly" ended up with the same seed

    Yep.

Assets folder celestial.config and change all the seeds.

Beyond that... Nothing says you have to visit the same planets or look at coordinates from other players.

There are enough planets that hitting random will go anywhere.

I'd like it if the universe had a seed of it's own, so that a planet's seed would be like "u:503950 x:5000040 y:4095503".

Coordinates are seeds. Seeds are basically caveman speak for a list of parameters worlds are "randomly" built upon. PC's are dumb, and thus need to be told what to do. Seeding is one such method, which allows for, as mentioned, quadrillions of variations.

Ultimately, you'll notice a few basics (deserts usually being deserts for example) the actual placement of ores, hills, etc. is what really changes. Usually changes so small no one really credits them to "randomization."

Just know that 477 quadrillion planets at one planet per second would take a human being just over 150 million years to even touch.

I don't even think God will be alive that long.

So, yeah... for all intents and purposes, the universe in game is "random," people are just sharing seeds for the select handful the Human race will ever really get to see before it goes extinct.

Yes, but ultimately, if we wished for the coord-sharing to stop somewhat, the game would have to enforce a player-selected seed (or randomized if none given) for the universe.
