Random Traps and Fun Stuff.

    Note: I had to space out the dimension notes that contained ? x 3 or it would make this X3, stupid forums...
    Note 2: The sprites are made the way I feel comfortable making them, they would obviously be remade to fit the theme of the game better if they were added so please no complaints about that.
    Note 3: I won't sprite certain things because I would want them to fit the theme and I don't know yet how they would be used.

    Power items:

    On/Off Switch - Turns any item wired up to the switch on or off. Very likely already in the game. (not spriting)

    Security Panel - A player needs to simply click on this and click "Add player" on the interface to no longer be attacked by sentries and able to pass Retinal Scans wired to the panel. Requires 2 EC to function.

    Motion Detector - Turns on/off any device wired up to the detector. If the item is turned on it will only deactivate once no motion is detected for 3 seconds. Detector range is only 3 x 3, meaning it must be very close by to the area you want it to be for it to work, requires 5 EC to function. (not Spriting)

    Motion Detector+ - Functions exactly like the Motion Detector but instead of having an AoE it has a cone of vision (cone can be 25 blocks long, cone can grow to 5 blocks wide (every 5 blocks long 1 block high starting at 1), doesn't go through blocks), requires 7 EC to function. (not Spriting)

    Trip Wire - If the red beam is crossed it will activate anything wired up to it and the beam deactivates for 7 seconds then it will reactivate (all active items will remain active until turned off elsewhere), requires 3 EC to function. (MIGHT sprite)

    Pressure Pad - Step on it and it turns thing on/off. Simple. (MIGHT Sprite)

    Retinal Scanner - Can only be activated by people inside the Security Panel (does nothing if it's not wired up to one) and then activates any item it's wired to. Requires 1 EC to function.

    Alarm - Generates a loud noise when activated. Useful for base defense, requires 2 EC to function.

    Power Generator - Generates very small amounts of power with no cost. This generator makes 10 EC (Electric Charge) per second, if the EC isn't being consumed completely it will be stored up to 1,500 EC.

    EC Battery - Any generator wired up to this will have any spare EC transferred to this where it can build up much higher. EC limit is 15,000.

    EC Transmitter Battery - This machine is capable of sending power wirelessly to any other device. Can store 5,000 EC as well.

    Plasmic Battery - A more powerful Battery capable of holding up to 25,000 EC.

    Prototype Mirrored Battery - Uses a decent chunk of EC at first (50 EC, once it has that much) and then generates it's own EC along with storing it. Generates 5 EC per second, stores up to 40,000 EC.

    Dark-Matter Battery - A very high capacity power storage device that can hold up to 75,000 EC.

    Energy Compactor - Compacts energy making many cells into one making each cell much, much more powerful. Storage limit is 150,000 EC.

    Energy Compactor Mk2 - Compacts energy cells further and then shrinks them allowing much, much, much more storage in a single container. Uses 5 EC per second, storage limit is 350,000 EC.

    Inter-Dimensional Power Storage Device - Sends Power into another dimension where a massive power storage facility is built. Only necessary when you have a very large amount of power being made. Uses 15 EC per second to function, storage limit is 750,000 EC.

    Heat Generator - Generates small power by burning materials (only things such as wood and other easily burnt items can work with this, clothing (not armor) can be used). Instead of slowly burning everything, the item is immediately transferred into EC points. Every item provides 20 EC so anything can be used equally, Generator can store 1,250 EC.

    Alloy Recyler Generator - This generator has 2 functions that are both incredibly useful! The main one is being able to melt down any old metal object into nice clean fresh bars of the metal the item is made from (bar amount changes with the item)! The other is Generating power, the generator only provides 15 EC Per second when inactive but provides 45 EC per second when using it's main function! Can hold up to 2,750 EC.

    Solar Panel - This is the smallest generator taking up only 1 block height wise (can be placed on walls as well but not ceilings) and being 2 blocks long. Generates 25 EC per second but can only generate while lots of light is touching it, so works best while the sun is up as lights would need power to be activated and only UV Lights function (UV lights require the most power).

    Lunar Energy Collector - Same shape as the Solar Panel but has red parts where the blue parts would be.
    Works the opposite as a Solar Panel and only generates when in a very dark room or at night. Generates 15 EC per second.

    Energy Extractor - This generator is very expensive to operate... Requires extremely powerful materials to generate EC such as: Dark-Matter, Anti-Matter, Magma, Energy Cells, Plasma, Black Hole Power Samples, Ect. Generates extremely high power (power given changes depending on the item it's extracting but even the weakest Power cell will give 50+ EC), can store up to 5,000 EC (it needs to hold a high amount due to the fact it can build it up so fast).

    Anti-Matter Energy Duplicator - Very, very expensive to build (an Energy Extractor and a shit-load of Anti-Matter) but generates extremely high EC. Generates 125 EC per second (EC generated is actually MUCH higher but the rest is used to duplicate and harvest power from Anti-Matter, of course there's no visual effect from that) but the generator requires venting to stay stable, therefor it deals damage to anything within 1.5 blocks and if it's in a room where there's no space in-between it and the wall (just 1 wall) it will explode after a few seconds causing an explosion (Very large explosion...).

    Anti-Matter Energy Duplicator MK2 - Requires an Anti-Matter Energy Duplicator, some Liquid Nitrogen, and some more Anti-Matter. EC Generation rate is increased to 350 EC per second and cooling chambers have been installed allowing it to be placed against walls and no longer deal damage.

    Non-Damaging Traps:

    Light Reflector - Makes it as dark as night at any time of the day, flashlight will NOT provide light inside the field (maybe a 10x10 field radius). The block itself is a background item so it can be passed through.

    Trap Door - Takes on the look of the blocks it's touching, resets in 4 seconds. Length is only 3 blocks. (not spriting)

    Guard Gate - When activated it will rise up into the area above (possibly making 2 player maps where you need to work together more effective?). (not Spriting)

    Defense Field - Blocks all bullets from entering (they are destroyed on contact, rockets explode), but not anything else meaning that an enemy could simply walk/fly inside the field and then start firing, also shots fired from the inside CAN leave the field making this very useful for turret defense. This field is not very large however and you would require many of them to fully protect a large/medium base (only 7x7), Field color is Orange. CAUTION!!! If 2 different kinds of field overlap this could result in the generator over-heating causing a devastating explosion, this may take several seconds to complete (takes 7 seconds) giving you time to deactivate the field before the explosion! (not spriting)

    Anti-Matter Field - Blocks anything from entering EXCEPT projectiles, meaning that if the generator is exposed the enemy could easily shoot it and deactivate the field. Field size is 13x13, field can be shut down temporarily (about 10 seconds) by activating some kind of EMP nearby the field, field color is Light Blue. (not spriting)

    Pulse Generator - A prototype field generator that blocks both entry in the form of enemies and bullets, this generator is not very stable however and can only be active for a certain amount of time before deactivating itself and waiting to cool down (Activation time is 12 seconds, cool down is 10 seconds). This generator also can overlap with other kinds of fields as the time it takes for it to overheat another generator is higher giving it plenty of time to run it's course (overheating time is increased to 14 seconds), field size is 15x15, field color is Purple. (not Spriting)

    Healing Acceleration Field - Has the same effects as a Healing Accelerator but stronger, requires nearly double the power of normal generators. Field size is 7x7, field color is Pink. (VERY Likely spriting)

    Stationary Radiation Generator - This does in fact deal damage but I put it here anyway. Generates a field of high powered Radiation. Field size is 5x5, damage is very low, hit rate is 3 times per second, field color is Green, Requires 1.5x the power of a normal generator. (VERY likely spriting)

    Bullet-Time Device - Every 5 seconds it will slow down everything inside the field (speed of everything inside is cut by 80%) for 3 seconds. Field size is 8x8, field color is Light Gray, requires 35 EC to function. (VERY likely spriting)

    Traps:

    Proximity Mine - Explodes once anything except the person that placed it gets close enough dealing very high damage.

    Time Bomb - Takes 7 seconds to explode but the the explosion is nearly 300% larger then the Proximity Mine, breaks Blocks (Maybe...) and around 150% more powerful then the Proximity Mine.

    EMP Emitter - Only "explodes" when a mechanical device is nearby (Such items as a laser gun, enemy turret, mechanical armor (If armor is shut down the player is unable to move for 15 seconds, if a weapon is shut down then you can't fire it for 20 seconds)) and shuts down the object for 15-20 seconds, fires every 30 seconds. This mine is re-useable but must be provided with power cells or be wired up to a generator (uses 5 EC while charging after "Exploding" and none at any other time).

    SMG Sentry - A small Sentry turret (automatically finds targets it can see, won't fire at things behind blocks). Fires quickly but deals low damage (DPS is still quite high as it fires very fast). You must supply it with ammo. Range is limited to 30 Blocks, requires 1 EC to function. (Might Sprite, same for all turrets except AA Guns)

    Shotgun Sentry - A small Sentry turret built for Close range battles (same target finding as SMG Sentry). Fires Medium Speed but deals high damage at close range. You must supply ammo, Range is limited to 20 Blocks, Requires 1 EC to function.

    Grenade Sentry - A medium/large sized Sentry turret that fires very high damage grenades (Same targeting as SMG Sentry). Grenades shot from this will arc much less then if they were fired from a grenade launcher you can carry and use as a weapon yourself but fires slower, ammo must be provided. Range is limited to 25 Blocks, requires 1 EC to function.

    Flame Sentry - A medium sized Sentry turret that spouts flames. Fires extremely quickly and ignites anything it hits on contact with the flame, ammo must be provided. Range is limited to 10 Blocks, requires 1 EC to function. (not spriting)

    Rail-Gun Sentry - A large sized turret that deals incredibly high damage (More then enough to kill a player in 1 shot). Fires extremely slowly (1 shot per 15 seconds), ammo must be provided, and can only fire straight ahead. Range is limited to 50 Blocks, requires 4 EC to function. (not Spriting)

    Laser Sentry - A small sentry turret that deals low/medium damage but fires extremely quickly. Ammo is generated from EC (Can store up to 200 shots), Range is limited to 30 blocks, requires 0 EC to function when ammo is full, requires 20 EC to function while generating ammo (if full before firing it will wait until down to 100 to generate again). (Not spriting)

    Bash Panel -When activated the panel with come crashing towards the nearest block (can't break blocks, can't damage without the victim hitting a block, maximum panel extended length is 5 blocks). Dimensions are 1 x 3, any block that is effected by gravity can be pushed with it, can be placed on the floor, on walls, on the ceiling always facing towards the player, requires 2 EC to function. (not spriting any variation)

    Mini-Bash Panel - Same effects as a Bash Panel except it is only 1 block long.

    Long Bash panel - Same effects as a Bash Panel except it can extend to 10 blocks, also it is 2 x 3 instead of 1 x 3.

    Long Mini-Bash Panel - Same effects as a Mini-Bash Panel except it's extension length is 10 blocks and it is 2x1.

    Slanted Bash Panel - The Panel will come out and go to the side, this can only be put on ceilings and floors, works well to block entry to somewhere. Extension length is 3 blocks (curves), size is 3 x 3.

    AA Turret - Can only target aircraft, as long as a single person that is authorized with the security mainframe is on board the aircraft will not be shot down. Fire's large slugs that deal high damage, Fire rate is medium, ammo must be supplied, Range is 45 blocks (the Sniper of AA defenses), requires 5 EC to function. (VERY likely spriting, same for all AA Guns except the Rail-Gun)

    AA Machine Turret - Same effects as an AA Turret but slugs deal much less damage and fires much faster. Medium damage, High fire rate, shots spread is medium, Range is 37 Blocks, requires 5 EC to function

    AA MIRV - Very costly to build but a must have for true base protection. Same effects as an AA Turret except it fires large rockets. Insanely high damage, Low fire rate, takes 5 seconds to charge before firing 4 rockets (lock on charging time), rockets have extremely strong knockback (effectively knocking aircraft straight out of the sky), Range is 35 blocks, requires 15 EC to function

    AA Phaser Rail-Gun - The best of the best in aircraft defense! Same effects as an AA Turret except it fires massive energy beams that travel much faster then MIRV Rockets or anything else. Very High damage, must recharge after firing (7 seconds), can fire through blocks (not destroying them), Range is much smaller then other AA Guns (about 30 blocks), requires 250 EC to function, Ammo doesn't need to be provided. (Not spriting)

    Tear Gas Tank - Causes very low damage to anything the spray hits (it can fill rooms if it's left on long enough, about 15 seconds), causes an enemy to become disoriented (screen blurs alot, movement speed is cut by 50%, and sound is greatly reduced for a few seconds), gas doesn't have limited range and instead just dissipates after several seconds (4 seconds, time is extended if more of the gas is nearby up to 12 seconds per "Gas"). Requires 1 EC to function.

    Toxic Gas Tank - Fills the air with a fast acting poison. Causes medium damage; lasts for 8 seconds but spray moves much, much slower; cuts speed by 15% and jump height by 33%; spray can last up to 15 seconds if there's enough of it in the air. Requires 1 EC to function.

    Spike Trap - Walked over (with power) or turned on with a switch of some sort it will send out large and powerful spikes. Spike length is 3 blocks high, trap is 2 x 3, deals insanely high damage, requires 2 EC to function.

    Saw Blade - A saw blade that deals very high damage (bosses are unaffected). Saw size is 2x2, takes 3 seconds to get to full speed (lower speed = lower damage), requires 5 EC to function.

    Giant Saw Blade - A much larger saw blade that can kill most things in a single touch (bosses are damaged slightly). Saw size is 3 x 3, takes 5 seconds to get to full speed, requires 10 EC to function.

    Super-Heated Saw Blade - A saw blade that deals much more damage then normal due to it being red hot. Takes 8 seconds to get to full speed, saw size is 3 x 3, requires 15 EC to function, can set things it damages on fire.

    Poisoned Saw Blade - A saw blade with a deadly poison all over it. Takes 5 seconds to get to full speed, saw size is 3 x 3, requires 10 EC to function, has an 80% chance to poison anything it touches.

    Tesla Array Saw - This is not actually a saw at all, it's 5 large tesla coils wired up to the saw motor. Takes 15 seconds to reach maximum speed, has a 20% chance to set anything it touches on fire or stun them for 3 seconds, requires 45 EC to function.

    Brimstone - Blazing hot volcanic rock. Every few seconds a small flaming rock will fly up slightly and explode (explosion is small and won't break tiles), size is 2 x 3, deals contact damage and always sets anything it hits on fire.

    Hive - Anything nearby to the hive (that's not in the security panel) will be attacked by a swarm of technologically enhanced parasites. Up to 7 parasites can be out at once,parasites can only be released every 25 seconds.

    Guard Drone - A drone that functions like a mobile SMG Sentry. Requires an EC Transmitter Battery be wired up to where it is placed, can follow attackers for 20 Blocks before it either continues shooting but just standing at the same spot or returns to it's position. Damage is low, fire rate is very high, movement speed is 115% NHP speed, requires 20 EC to function, armor is strong, jump height is 50% NHP height

    Sniper Drone - A drone that functions like the Guard Drone except it can't chase. Damage is very high, fire rate is low, Movement Speed is 75% normal human player speed, requires 25 EC to function, armor is weak.

    Repair Drone - This drone is special as it doesn't fight attackers and instead repairs machinery. Things such as Force Fields, Drones, Turrets, ect. It requires an EC Transmitter Battery wired up to it, Armor is Very Strong, repair speed is very slow, movement speed is 150% NHP speed, uses a jet pack to get over obstacles (unlimited flight time), if nothing that's in your base needs repairs (it only repairs things wired up to a Security Panel it is also wired up to) it will deactivate teleporting back to the area you placed it and staying there until it's services are needed again.

    Torch Drone - A drone that functions just like the Guard Drone except it uses a Flamethrower.

    Scout Drone -These drones are special as they will leave your base as soon as being placed and walk the world scanning the area, it can also bring back items for you (Common mob drops). It will use a jetpack to fly over anything in it's way, it uses an Assault Rifle to defend itself, Armor plating is very Strong, Movement speed is 175% NHP speed, requires an EC Transmitter Battery, Requires 35 EC to function.

    Drone Wolf - A mechanical dog that can be set to follow Scout Drones or guard an area. It has jets built into it's legs to help it travel gaps or get over mountains, it bites for attacking (as well as a small mini-gun on it's back), Armor plating is moderate, movement speed is 200% NHP speed, requires an EC Transmitter Battery, requires 30 EC to function.

    Elite Drone - This drone functions just like a Guard Drone except it's slightly bigger and uses a Full-Auto Shotgun. Movement speed is 125% NHP speed, armor plating is strong, EMPs only slow it down due to it using a special kind of power generator made to resist them, requires an EC Transmitter Battery, Requires 40 EC to function.

    Elite Heavy Drone - This drone is extremely powerful, it uses a Rocket Launcher. Movement speed is 140% NHP speed, armor plating is insanely strong, EMPs have no effect on them, requires an EC Transmitter Battery, requires 60 EC to function.

    I think this is a must, there was only two traps in terraria: Dart shooters and boulders.

    Yes. Starbound will do better where terraria failed. No mods ever successfully made a working trap so these would add greatly to the experience.
    EDIT: Just added in a power system thing. Think of something like that mod from Minecraft (think it was called Tekkit?) but it works much better.

    True, that's why I made this thread! I'm just making sure people that enjoy sitting back and watching people kill themselves on your traps have something to do. Everything here is here because I want it to be, many other want it ingame as well I'm sure.

    Ya damn right. NOW WITH SPRITES! The sprites will come as I make them, I'm (Mostly) out of ideas so I'm gonna get to work making the sprites for everything, sorry bout the white part of the pic, can't remove it. I find my thread to now be less :poo:.

    That's so simple! Trap door makes them fall into a pit where Bash Panels prevent them from climb back up by pushing them away, then they fall down another Trap Door and are chased by Guard Drones of all kinds at which point they must run through a corridor filled with Saw Blades, Brimstone, and Time bombs then at the end they need to run and not be shot to death by the sentry guns while dodging super sonic rail gun rails in bullet time and then get TO THE CHOPPAH and fly away before the Radiation Generators melts the CHOPPAH and avoid the AA Sentries. Aka, the best adventure map ever. With all this you could easily set up a death course and have people compete for a massive fully trained :cookie:... I mean :virorb:.

    GO MY MINIONS! TELL OTHERS SO WE MAY GET THESE IN-GAME! Normal turrets are nearly confirmed (very high chance they'll be in) but we want some variety! I'd love to see a special contest in the forums for the most epic base. I've got so many ideas already, can't wait to try them out!

    Was you playing Tekkit when you trough of this? Anyways nice ideas, now i can maniacally laugh while i see that poor player try to get inside my super-fortress full of traps.
