    Hey everyone,

    Is there anyway to nerf rain?

    I have spent hours building my village on a planet and the rain keeps knocking things off walls and destroying all my lamps that I lay out on the ground to light up my farming village, and if they despawn... it costs me heaps of pixels to get them back.

    Why does this happen?

    The ground is flat.

    I also get rain coming into my building when I am inside, even though I have a roof.

    Is there a quick fix I can do to fix this? Because this is really painful at the moment.1

    When we need to nerf rain in a video game, you just know something, somewhere has gone terribly wrong.

    But this does sound like a valid complaint. I haven't seen the effects of rain firsthand, but I imagine some tweaking might be in order.

    I would suggest keeping your lamps under small overhangs of solid tiles. You could space these between farm zones. Its not ideal, but its a solution to make things workable for now.

    well you could do what people do in real life and use a roof

    besides that you can go into the files and edit the weather

    Silly question, but do you have a background behind your house? I think that that keeps water from coming in. ...Though I also hear that a "hole" with a background will also begin to fill with water, so I've probably got nothing, honestly. :-\

    Are you sure it isen't acid rain? with no roof items will be destroyed by acid rain. Try rebuilding on a new planet or making an impresive glass dome over your little settlement.

    go into weather/rain/storm.weather and remove

    "projectiles" : [
    {
    "projectile" : "water",
    "parameters" : {
    "power" : 0
    },
    "velocity" : [0, -30],
    "ratePerX" : 0.1,
    "spawnAboveRegion" : 30,
    "spawnHorizontalPad" : 30,
    "windAffectAmount" : 1.0
    }
    ],

    should fix it (or crash idk)

    No, I specifically chose a planet that had no harmful weather, this one just rains, and it does quiet often, sometimes it shows bright glowie stuff. Other than that no acid, and no meteor.

    This is why I chose to build here.

    But yes the rain is a pain. I do have a roof, but because its a large tower and I go through the bottom the rain comes in, knocking stuff I have mounted on the walls, like lamps and fire torches. I also have the metal solid lamps for the farm area, these should not be knocked over, but the rain apparently pools on flat surface and knocks them off.

    Thanks for the responses I will check out the rain mod fix.

    Thanks.

    Yeah, ever since the rain washing was put in, it has created trouble for home bases. Even though I love the sound of the rain, I now choose not to stay in places it appears. :( I will also look for that mod!

    It does need to be fixed a little, there is no question of that.
    But I question the assertion that it makes the game unplayable.

    Adapt man!!!
    I made a drain system that I added to the awnings of my home. I don't place torches outside directly since it already makes sense that rain will extinguish a burning rag on stick, I make street lamps with covers to protect the torch and keep them off the ground.
    Identify flood points and remove them.

    (I do still have to deal with the odd inside rainfall)

    The way I see it? When life gives you lemons you make lemonade, you don't download the no lemons mod

    hmmm...my base is on an acid rain planet and it seems to rain more often then i doesnt. i have yet to ever see anything displaced by the rain although ive heard several folks complain about this.

  14. The Rain IS harmful weather.

    There are several types of rain in the game now. You are experiencing heavy rain, which fills up holes with water and disrupts some objects. It is a negative weather effect -- you should look for a new planet to occupy

    I have my house in a heavy rain planet too, what I do is to make the room and leave a hole in the background of each room at ground level, this way the water is drained and before it pools enough to destroy anything inside.
    Also you could put the torches over a wood platform so the water just passes below it.

    You can get stuff displaced by rain or acid rain. I too live on an acid rain planet that rains more often than it doesn't. Consequently, I spend most of my time underground. My house has been built to withstand the rain, and I get no traces of rain inside. It's totally livable. I've never had a problem with the rain washing away my lamps, and my upper farm seems to work just fine even though it's exposed to weather:

    I never had any issues with rain. In fact, I'm using rain in a fairly big project right now, which involves making a fairly large lake.

    If you're on a planet with rain and you don't want it -- go elsewhere. The chance that a planet will have rainy weather is 1 in 11 for forest planets, with similar odds applying to most other planets. I for one, need it and won't stand seeing it nerfed without any other ways to generate large amounts of water.

    Other than roofs becoming non-existent if offscreen. Little needs to be fixed. Once the real bugs are fixed, it just takes special architecture to live in some areas.

    Don't build on planets with heavy rain, or or or get to tier 3 and get the pocket/portable printer and mass produce cheap lights for 50 pixels each that do not wash away and can even be placed underwater. And for the cost of 2 cheap lights you make a nanofire that is a campfire that works under water.

    I live on a heavy rain planet and nothing ever washes away, EVER and the puddle thing is a cool effect. That makes a planet less boring.

    And draining is of course no problem.

    Now if I can just find an alpha planet where the acid rain forms puddles.
