So i looked at the hylotl story and it said that they had wars with the florans and when i went to a floran city as a hylotl. But since the florans hate hylotl i would have ecxpected them to attack me. So it got me thinking how about race Friendships/Rilvaries. When your in a friendly village they sell you things cheaper whatever. But Rilvaries are simple just murder. Allso why not add a way to become friends with villages on a curtain planet. Help them and stay there for a while they will get use to it Well this is it its short but whatever take care
Hmm... I don't know about this. For one, they don't want you to be crippled in some way later down the line because of the race you chose. For two, some of us are rogues. Florans that leave willingly become outcasts and enemies, Glitch players achieved self-awareness and were hunted down for it, Apex players were part of a rebellion against the Miniknog that failed.
Plus, if you talk to them, they ARE outright hostile. If I had a pixel for every time a Floran villager threatened to kill my Hylotl character So no support. Disliking another race =/= attacking on sight.
I agree with this sentiment. There is a large amount of sense to well defined racial strength/weaknesses and friendships/rivalries in a game that wants to have a large amount of replay value. This would promote players to start over and try something different. However, in a game like Starbound, replay value is virtually meaningless, as players will typically stay with a particular character for many times longer than in other games. A more interesting framework for this type of mechanic would be a dynamic faction like/hate system, wherein populations of a particular planet are all part of the same faction. This would give you the same result, but would allow you to simply fly to another planet if the faction you are playing with turns on you. Given the upcoming dynamic quest system, this dynamic faction reputation system could add depth without forcing a player to "replay" his game.
I really like the racial friendships and rivalries because it adds to the story telling and immersion when playing starbound. As of now, I find no reason to try other races because there almost 0 difference from the one I am using. I would like this game to have some depth in lore and having racial interaction is a good way to implement it.
Why would they not kill them i mean the florans were the reason why hylotls scattered in the first place
The story could be expanded so they could put in more race relationships the story has not been completed yet
I think this was planned where villages would start off in a certain attitude to you and you could do quests and make them like you or kill them and make them hate you.
I don't like the idea of having races react differently towards different races, to the extent of being resorting to violence to some while being indifferent or welcoming to others. It would make for a lot of frustration when playing multiplayer where one player triggers aggression, making it impossible for them as well as the other players (Can't talk when they're trying to kill your friend) to interact with the NPCs. I'd much rather have any settlement of NPCs just be universally peaceful (If passive aggressive) or aggressive (= violent) towards players, regardless of race.
it could be so that when they dont want to kill you they will just ignore you like when a hylotl is in a floran city and they want to kill him and a human comes they will just not pay attention to him
that would not make sence with the lore angel you tried to tie into your suggestion. why would the presense of a human stop them from trying to kill somthing they hate. what happens if the human beams away? do they just instantly freak out and try to kill the hated race? then what if the human comes back, do they just stop and carry on like nothing happened?
Yes they will carry on their normal lives is the human beams away but when he comes back they are still going to try kill him allso i think you spelled sense wrong english is not my nr 1 langauge
Well i mean the overall village. If you kill one the rest will hate you but after a certain amount of time they will stop trying to kill you and after doing quests for them they will like you again
