Racial Armor Information (IRC)

Maybe the community could be allowed to come up with the name for the Robot race...? We could always have a poll.

 

Hylotl armor is going to be at a serious disadvantage early-game. You spend much more time on land then in then in water.

 

How do you know?
Fully Ocean planets ARE confirmed...
I watch you while you drown, silly ape or bird or metallic device.

Avian armor doesn't grant flight, but gliding. As Buzz Lightyear said, "Falling - with style!"

Apex bonus may seem underwhelming, but even if only gaining a jump boost, it would allow you to scale larger crevices and climb terrain easier (without having to use blocks as "ladders" or "bridges" as often). And if it also grants movement speed bonus ... the benefits of that cannot be overstated in any way.

 

Are you blind?
Also, I doubt that your first planet will be a fully oceanic planet. Unless it's important for Hylotl storyline.

 

It doesn't really matter, you can just search for an oceanic planet and make your homeworld. Your homeworld doesn't have to the first one you land on.

 

Im not blind, im not saying the first planet will be you derp. Im saying that it will be useful on ocean planets, and I sometimes think that races get different starting planets, but the idea of coordinates eliminates that.
Also, underground lakes. The case of much annoyance in terraria, NOT HERE TROLLOLOLOLOLOLOL

AND, you can set your homeworld to an ocean planet. Underwater houses ftw, you cannot disagree.

This I very much enjoy. I definitely like having Racial Armours abilities as opposed to actual Race abilities.

 

They should have just had a racial vanity slot so you can equip another race's appearance over your own

It all sounds awesome. I also agree the Apex should have some sort of climbing ability to their armor though I think wall jumping might be a bit much.

 

It depends on how far it is, and you never know, all species might have an innate ability to do a small wall jump. Apex armour might just make it a little stronger.

And now I think I need to ask the question everyone is thinking....

its not actually a difference between races, its more like a difference between their armours. A floran can still breathe underwater if they wear Hylotl armour

It's a bit like a difference between races. A cultural one, like the sort of difference that exists between different earth populations.

Either way you are getting some diversity both in looks and usefulness.
Besides, most likely armor will be procedurally generated as well so we will have tens of thousands of different styles and colors.

 

Let's play Hylotl together and taunt other players cause we can live underwater!

 

For a 7th race make a Lava Imp race.
It is like the Hylotls but they live in lava, not water.
Overpowered? Yes.
