I was thinking that I wanna certainly play an avian... Religious, englighted by the overgod Kluex and willing to limit the acces of my homeworld to only avian people or special guests. I wonder if it would be possible to select the races we allow on each of our homeworld ? For Players and NPCs. More than that, if we could exchange NPCs or buy new ones (The concept of buying is perhaps not the good one but any other way would be good) it would allow some pvp actions based on RP relationships. What do you think about this ?
Race limitations would be actually quite useful so you don't have any foreign trespassers who you don't know, it would work in Single-player and Multi-player, maybe even more specific, limit it to a group of friends and/or NPCs. Buying/exchanging/selling NPCs is also a relatively nice idea, so you can vary the different types. You could have some sort of transfer window as in football or a giant auction. This could also add a possibility for factions and/or clans in-game.
Definitely has my vote I hope it gets fleshed out a bit Clans actually having some persistence in game, factions (a tier above clans) and parties (a tier below clans) and restricting access to certain parties / clans / factions and restricting it to certain races / religions / characteristics.. (I don't mean racist worlds though .... well okay.. that is kind of the basis of this thread.. but w/e xD)
Could you imagine literally setting up the Federation from Star Trek, cuz that's the kind of path we are on here. I like the idea of making it more of a clan/faction system. The founders and moderators of the faction could set the entry requirements and allow or ban members as need. This would make it just as easy to create an Avian armada as it would be to make an alliance of races.
Please, please do not fall into "Clans", Starbound Community. Be creative. Have coalitions, federations, alliances, Republics, Monarchies, Dictatorships, Kingdoms, Empires, Sultanates, Councils, cool things like that. And yes, I think a Star-Trek Federation type thing would be glorious.
That is just about the best thing I ever heard. I love this idea, although it will probably need "fleshing out" as mentioned earlier, and a LOT of effort from the devs as it would probably require rearranging the systems already in place and the addition of a new one. Insert rant: (I don't know how to spoiler, sorry) Perhaps certain worlds on multiplayer could even have a player government able to attend meetings on other planets in "orbital conference rooms" (terminal in spaceship) where things like declarations of war/truces are decided by existing members of a "society"(votes/ leaders sign a petition?). i.e my server temporarily attacks someone elses world providing both parties agree, the last survivor getting tonnes of loot. (Without the ability to place or remove blocks, griefing is never cool.) Alliances could also be formed, allowing others to be called in as reinforcements. This could also be a good way to implement clans into the game, they would just need to get a homeworld and name it after the clan and begin battling/cooperating/trading.
or perhaps if one attacks another world, an instance of the world is created where buildings are destructible, and the blocks used or gained through this disappear after the instance is over. you can create bunkers and destroy buildings, and all that jazz. possible rewards: both sides 1. captives (an npc version of a player of the opposing team who surrendered who can fight with you or something) 2. pixels (yay!) 3. coordinates to the worlds that the enemies have visited invaders: 1. chance to loot from the world (which takes nothing from the defenders since their homeworld will come back untouched) 2. some sort of banner or sign which can be placed on the world, and cannot be removed for a set time. Maybe the invaders have free reign to visit the world (occupation) during this time defenders: 1. some items or weapons from the other team (duplicates, as it actually doesn't take anything from the invaders) 2. NPC's will have increased moral, making trades cheaper. 3. maybe the chance to "capture" pets from the invaders. defeat: invaders: 1. leaves homeworld "vulnerable" to the defenders to attack (the invader's homeworld can only bring in 1-2 players per minute, giving the defender's a chance to retaliate relatively easily) 2. instead of retaliation, defenders get to place a banner and occupy the other homeworld (see invader reward 2) 3. a set time until the invaders can skirmish (with anyone, considering the repair time) defenders: 1. an hour (real hour) wait before the homeland is "repaired" (which will undo all changes from the battle). at this time the defenders will have to go to a friend's homeworld or just go explore! ps. maybe the opposing teams can simply make a wager (agreed before battle). pixels, items, or even pets and npcs. Maybe two opposing teams can pick any planet they discovered to fight on. In this case, they are both attackers. As planets cannot be claimed except for homeworlds, this is only a wager battle, though maybe the losing clan is banned from the planet for a few hours or a day. remember, these fights are optional for both groups. this wouldn't be a way for griefers to prevent someone's homeworld access or bar them from planets. whew. sorry for the long comment. i hope i didn't waste anyone's time, and hope everyone appreciates the little bit of time a put into this
This has the potential to be an awesome side-activity for both casual players and, if they decide to be involved, clans. Heres hoping the devs add it in one day.
I agree it would be quite useful say if they had different color hair and skin and armor types to distinguish different races allowing for more rp and battlegrounds with the ability to tell one race form another.
