I've noticed this too, hopefully they change that up as beta progresses.

When it comes to racial designs affecting crafting equipment, it's stuff like campfire reskins "Floran's primitive cooking pot", or cooking tables, such as the ones found in labs or the like. The basic stuff like a crafting table or anvil doesn't have another reskin, as they're meant to be fairly universal. The same goes for the upgraded versions.

Besides, you don't have these things to start off with, and creating them seems to have become a tutorial-important thing. Perhaps the finished look of the basic crafting tables could change according to the woods you had to use to make 'em, but anvils don't change much. I've seem a fair amount of funace variations, though.

We already have race-specific food-seed and a broken weapon. What else would you have added? Some soil from their home planet, or some trinket of little value from their home planet?

P.S. "Fishy tools"? That's racist, friend. You wouldn't happen to be a Floran, would you?

My thoughts are almost the same, but I can see the difference.
You have a valid point, that anvils and co. aren't starting equipment.

    Yes I am Floran. :p

I also see your point. However, I was referring to some specifics. :geek: I'm a bit of an "alt whore" so I have several characters of the races I'm interested in. The point I was trying to get at is that there would be some racial styles regardless of starting point. As well as certain things races should know by default. Since I spent several hours dismantling part of a Floran prison for mats I'll use them as an example. As a Floran, if you use the examine feature on Floran furniture (the stuff with bones) one piece will tell you that Floran use all the bones (I think its the primitive chair). With a blanket statement like that I would think that Floran would know how to use bones as building materials. Either from mob drops (which I imagine would be SLOW going) or those "bone biome" locations I've stumbled across. In addition, there are the plant-based bits like you find in the prisons. Desk lamps, plant torches, storage pods (not the actual name), even being able to propagate the plants that look like mini volcanoes seems like it should be knowledge a Floran adventurer...hunter...colonist...whatever the players roles are...would have. I admit, an anvil is pretty much an anvil. The slight tweaks there wouldn't go unnoticed/unappreciated IMO but they aren't necessary. Work benches, cooking stoves, and I'd even say the advanced crafting stations would be justifyable as having different appearances and production lists aside from the necessary defaults.

Though perhaps I'm just putting too much thought into it. I look forward to future content updates and seeing what the devs have in store. :D

What an interesting idea! I like it. I'm especially intrigued by the idea of racial sprites for the matter manipulator.
