So I was having a good time with the game, getting some good gear and had just gone to a new planet and build a house, I quit the game. And some hours later when starting it again, I am not on the same planet, loads of my stuff is gone, and worst of all, I cant transport myself to the place where I meat Ester or what her name is, so I did the mission in the mine thingy over again to teleport there after beating the boss, the teddybear mission i did has been reset, many quests has been reset. Back at the ship I was going to check if the teleporter worked now. NO.......... wth has happened? And I hope its fixable.....

Yeah this is a common issue happening to people. If you quit/crash/BSOD or whatever while it's overwriting your universe files, they will become corrupted and end in .fail. It treats your character as new, drops you off at a random gentle star and your mission progress is reset.

the GOOD news is that you can recover your bookmarks by hunting through your files.

The BAD news is that your progress is permanently lost and you need to redo all main missions and re-unlock the outpost. Starbound staff still hasn't addressed this issue and I wish they would. This happened to me and my husband and many others. :(

Thank you, found my planet, but now a new problem how do I redo the quests? Penguin Bay is closed etc so I cant use it unless I do all the missions to open it, but there is no missions here :/

Sometimes you may have to create a new character to complete outpost missions. I think I remember somebody saying if you do the missions for one character, it counts for all. I mean, you'll have to redo all quests that Ester gave you as well. That should unlock things again.
