Does anyone know the exact count for the amount of hay that's consumed in one season by EACH livestock type? If that's not the case, how bout how much each consumes a day? As in... Dinosaurs Chickens VOID Chickens (if it's different, heh) Ducks Rabbits Cows Pigs Goats Sheep ...if possible, I'd also like to know how big of a plot of land (for grazing purposes) I'd need for 3 pigs, 3 sheep, 3 cows, 3 goats, 2 void chickens, 2 normal chickens, 2 ducks, 2 rabbits, 4 dinosaurs as well...as well as the number of "Grass Seeders" I'll need to plant in the spring for it. To be honest, this last bit is what I find more important...as I'd like to have my grazing fields be self-sufficient, but it appeared that they were disappearing just before fall ended... (I filled it up all the way with pigs and sheep in the fall)... Basically, I didn't see any of this info on the wiki, so I decided to ask about it. FIgured it couldn't hurt to do so. ^^
Well, each animal needs one bale of hay a day. So one animal for a season is 28 bales of hay. For the total number of animals you listed you'd need something in the region of 670 hay to keep them fed for one season. To turn that into grass, well, it's difficult to quantify the numbers. I don't know the math involved in how grass grows and at what exact speed and in which particular directions, so you'd be better off just buying as much as you feel is a reasonable number to buy (probably 100+) and spreading it out around the areas you want it. It grows much quicker than it did at launch so you can just keep an eye on it to see how much it is growing vs how quickly it's being consumed.
It is there on the wiki, though it could probably do with some clarification. As was said one animal = one hay/grass equivalent consumed per day. Tip for grass growth/hay harvesting, cut small holes in each patch of grass so the grass can grow both outward but also back into the hole. This doesn't slow the spread of the grass, while helping to fill your hay silos ready for winter.
On top of that...I forgot to mention this before, because I didn't think of it at the time...but it definitely looked like the animals were eating MORE than one tile of hay per animal per day...because I had a decent sized grass field that was nearly totally decimated by the end of fall, heh. Well, either way...I'll be planning it better now, anyway~ ^^
