I would be very interested in seeing how this turns out. I do have a question, sorry if it's already been asked, how strict do you plan on having the rp experience be? I personally would prefer that normal Chat should always be in character and any OOC chat restricted to private tells.

 

As the party hasn't started, I would say you are fashionably early my good man. Pleas make yourself at home, while I fetch us some tea and biscuits.

From my limited understanding of Starbound there will be 3 chat channels, Local, solar system and Universe. Dont quote me on that though. It could all change at a moments notice if Chucklefish deems it necessary.
I would almost expect Universe to break the immersion, so that will likely end up being the OOC chat(to help get new players up to speed or who have questions.)I wouldnt want to disable it altogether, the universe is huge, and we will likely need a way to announce news feeds from stafff RPing as new reporters, such as troop movements and the like, so players can locate one another.

I would very much like to see RP in person planetary chat a near constant. Perhaps with some long range distance solar system. Private tells could also be OOC as you say.


Unrelated: I will likely be in the SEC as a Miner. I know we have an administration person in here somewhere

 

Well, since everyone's into character sheets:
Name: Jack "Rockhead" Parides
Job: Captain of The Astra Parides, weaponry vendor, mercenary.
A cool headed, determined but young human space traveler wich hails from the planet Gaia, formerly known as Earth. Has studied Astronomy, Science, Mechanics and Advanced Mechanics, Informatics and Sociology and Anthropology on a famous Gaian university. This man started dealing on the black market to pay for his extraordinarily costly university studies. After graduating from university, he started looking for a job on Gaia. However, this research for a honest job was stopped when the IDF closed down his father's weapon shop and imprisoned him. Forced to return to the black market, Jack started selling hand-crafted weaponry and stealing pixels from other shops. One day, while lurking at the bar (he was pretty much the only one who ordered non-alchoholics), he overhear a drunk man bragging about his majestic space ship, "The Meteor Shard". As he exited out of the bar, drunk and close to vomiting, Jack quickly fried the man's brain with his C02 laser, the first weapon he ever built. After stealing everythung he had on (up to but NOT including his underwear) and hiding the body in the sewers, he quickly ran to the small ship known as Meteor Shard, parked behind the bar in a singularity compressor. Jack expected something better: the ship itself was barely longer than 15 meters, and he was pretty sure that it could barely get out of the Sol System. He was right, but after that robbery, luck was still on his side.
...Cliffhanger! Maybe I'll continue the backstory sometimes later, who knows.

Oh and I will do a character sheet but a bit further in the future. When the lore and tone of the universe get down a bit more. Then I can get the idea of which faction and character I'd like to create, won't even think about my multiple characters just yet since it is too far in the future. Much props to Zephyr and Profound, you've created something with potential awesome.

SEC do now sound less bad, but then again- they are a company so...
