I just realized... Mollygos confirmed that GeorgeV has successfully entered the UK and he is doing work. This is a gigantic accomplishment, we should commission a statue for him!

 

It's not about the lore. Trust me, we know the lore. It's about proper good design. They scavenge the tech, they don't need to use the design for the outward appearance though. So even in lore it makes no sense, because they would most certainly make the ship their own with paints and parts. That's just part of good design. You make a little sacrifice on the specifics YOU want (because, after all, it's not for you) and make it look good and appealing for everyone. Really one simple thing could negate most the poor design and that's recoloring. So from one designer to another, I am giving the advice needed to make a quality product.

I literally said "that's freaking sweet" out loud when I say those ships. The wait is worth it, keep it up! Could you possibly, however, speak on how these ships will be upgraded?

 

Well the cold alone would freeze them and they would simply break off. The lack of atmosphere, even if the roots where getting oxygen and nutes from inside, would still kill the plant. Between lack of atmosphere, stress, and shear freezing temperatures those plants wouldn't stand a chance. I mean, FTL travel would rip the plants off anyways as well. But like I said, this is just a personal opinion of me not liking it, due too the fact it's completely impossible in every way scientifically and logically. It's not that it looks bad or anything.

 

The hylotl ship looks great.

Can't say I'm excited for spaceships improvement. The way I see it, it kinda defeats having a building aspect in the game. Sure, CF wants to provide multiple way of playing the game, but still it sounds counter-productive pouring time and resources in ships tier. Unless of course they are 100% customizable, meaning you can do whatever you want... Which doesn't seem to be the case.

So, yeah, mixed feelings.
I hope we will have news of the whole new gameplay though !

 

OMGGGGGggggggggggggg, Florans are the hippest race ever, they even have a freaking Aztec temple thingy! (I think it might be a good idea to make it gray or brown because yellow makes people think you are half Avian. Unless this has to do with lore about Florans and Avians. In which case, YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

 

I just don't understand the avian part of it, and it really doesn't look right....

 

Sometimes, in practice, the lore itself doesn't make a lot of sense. I wonder if Chucklefish would ever consider retconning anything upon discovering better ideas.

 

I really like the new hylotl ship look, that modern look... like their cities, thanks devs!

I really like the look of the Floran ship, both from an aesthetic POV (looks cool having the different styles there) and in terms of function (an actual greenhouse to grow stuff in, sweet).

I may be the only one here who doesn't like the Hylotl ship, tho. The original style was ok with me, maybe tone it down a bit or something, but the new one just looks too angular to me. I was picturing something sleek, like the old ship or like the "organic" looking tech a lot of sci-fi races use but this looks pretty boring to me. Just a lot of horizontal lines.

Ah, well, overall looks really good tho! Looking forward to it!
