Progress on Ships!

Not a fan of the new Hyotl ship design. Space Koi is way better. New ship just seems... bland. I understand the want to make it match the modern theme of the upcoming Hyotl cities, but so far it looks more like the Human ship, without the awesome Star Wars/Battlestar Galactica paint job. The Floran ship looks great though. It matches their culture well, with the bits and pieces. I do think that the Avian part could be more integrated, as it's kind of an eyesore on the design. Maybe it needs some earth and moss on it?

 

That's because some people are just spoiled and the more "favors" you do for them, the worse it gets. They think that just because they because invested money in a product, an "alpha-beta" game, that they're suddenly privileged kings and that their words is law. They're going to bug the heck out of the developers about ALL the things that should be done, added and at what rate, but they forget that this INS'T their game. If you support an author before he releases a book, you DO NOT gain any privileges to alter the story and the rate at which it goes. You support him because you like the work he does and you want to make sure he is able to come through with his next book. If its the other kind of privilege you seek then all you need to do is make your own book...

This doesn't mean I'm against people suggesting improvements, but there's a difference between knowing your place, respecting the developer's work and UNDERSTAND that right from the beginning, they said you were getting into a REAL beta test, and that things were not finished. Another thing is doing what I mentioned above. I think the developers should concentrate on what really matters and make Starbound a great game. We may have different opinions in the details but I think we all agree that first and foremost, our support was so that this game comes through.

 

Lol, I want them to make up their mind and start finishing the game, To many changes but in the end changes maybe good. My friend has just given up on it he feels it is taking to long and doesn't like the changes. But, for 15 dollars I have already got my moneys worth in the beta played over 100 hundreds. You can spend 60 dollars on a game and play it less than 100 hours. People need to remember the game was 15 dollars. Really the game is good now just needs polished. After, changes maybe it will be better or not but really it could be worse. That is how I feel.

 

The game is already pretty good, even in its beta form. I only miss some more pictures about the rest of things that are being created/reworked by the team, one of them being staves. Nevertheless, I know that they can't use up their time in this kind of tasks, that is why I think that someone should step forward and ask them for permission to post them in the main page. That would make everyone happier.

 

WHy do everyone seem to be so much obsessed with florans? Though I like their new ship design, Hylotl ship looks a bit too simple. Perhaps adding some more features to it would make it look better? Just a little.

Wasn't it said that Florans didn't make their own ship, and instead stole others? Like the current Floran ship looks like the Apex, but tangled in vines and flowers, so im going to assume, the florans ship will be built from parts of other ships, while everyone else has their own. Since the one shown here looks like a Glitch ship, then with the Avian pyramid slapped on top after upgrading lol, so I highly doubt we can "choose" parts of ships to put together, im guessing its just a upgrade system, so in the end everyone will have the same looking ship (Minus decorations and things IN the ship)... tbh I still think I prefer the Custom Ships, saw the mod, then made it myself (Really easy to do) and just made it the way I wanted (Instead of starting with a Wood ship, its metal with normal ship lights and such) and now I have a flying base lol, also seeing as theres still possibility of World Wipes, im going to save ALL my gear, loot, etc on my ship, where its safe.

So im going to guess your not right But we wont know until we get hold of the new ships, or word from the Devs.

Well, the only two ships shown are Floran and Hylotl. The Floran ship has already pretty much been thuroughly discussed, argued, and suggested for. And the Hylotl ship seems to be under the mutual agreement that it needs back its old asian-theme charm.

As for the bigger picture.........everyone has their favorite race of those present. Some love Floran. Some love Glitch. Some love Hylotl. Etc etc....

I've played each of the races, and my favorite story wise and from the character I've made (shown in my avatar pic) is my Floran, Briar. But I'd have to say the Hylotl and the Apex are my second favorites. I'm also still holding out in my heart for the Nova Kid race. =P

But that doesn't mean one race is better then the other. Its just who we each individually relate to or favor. =)

I love you guys for having made this game. I love how you gave us several diverse races, and scratched that itch for a sandboxy type space game. I look forward to whatever additions you envision for this project. And please, don't let the people who feel 'entitled' to demand things from you guys cause you stress or undo trouble. Do your best, cause at this current point, the game is already amazing. =)

 

i like it more space to decorate and place npc spawners make it a homebase/shop convenient so you don't have to run planet to planet for essential items you can just get your healing items and other basics in one place

 

Personally, I am just glad that ship upgrades are now a priority.

 

Great ship designs. Now show me a tier 4 Glitch ship that looks like an Amish barn.

People seem to forget the floran fluff, they are hypercarnivorius backward engineering salvager plant people, and if you don't like the floran fluff don't play em.

 

I'm liking the new ships.

The Hylotl design looks great. It is a bit of a shame that it doesn't have the Japanese paper screen and lantern feel of the old design but the old orange fish looked really goofy and I'm glad it's being replaced by something else.

The Floran designs look ok too. Though I agree about the pyramid sticking out like a sore thumb, as others have said painting it brown or green would help a lot.

The Floran room layout is interesting too I noticed that the bottom row of rooms are out of alignment which fits with the idea that it has been bodged together from other ships. I assume that the Hylotl, with their artistic sensibilities, won't have a room layout that is quite as slapdash. Will each race be getting a unique room layout for their ship?
