Closed Problems with the 3D printer?

I can't seem to get the 3D printer to work. One time, I put a lantern in the scan slot, hit the scan button, and my lantern disappeared, but now I don't see the 3D printable schematics anywhere in the 3D printer.

Now, I'm trying to scan all sorts of objects, like seeds, torches, etc. They all have pixel values, and when I hit scan, nothing happens. The item just sits in the scan slot.

Am I doing something wrong?

 

I am having the same problem. Tried an oil lantern, it disappeared, no recipe. It now wont let me scan a second oil lantern. Every other item I tried after that also refused to create a recipe in the printer.

 

I had the same thing happen when I put a toxic chest into the printer. I no longer have the chest, and can't print it from the 3D printer.

 

iirc items that can't be printed will get eaten by the printer. Recipe items or usable items like seeds can't be printed. Try scanning stuff like the uncraftable furniture types from NPC villages, if it eats them then something's wrong.

 

I have the bug too, but with a normal item. I saw that the stim pack merchant spawner I found had an item price, so I put it in the printer. It ate up my item and the cost to get the blueprint, but nothing appeared in the printer. This is an issue, because items like that are not commonly found, and are an actual item in the game's code. I see no reason for it to be unable to get a printing code for it, if it meets all those requirements and has a price.

 

Merchants are a "useable" item. You've never been able to print them.

 

I know, but the fact that the spawner had a price made me curious. Considering you can craft commoner and warrior spawners, I was wondering if it could print merchants as well. If that's the case and you shouldn't be able to print them, the spawners shouldn't have a price (Which the printer uses)

 

Prices are most likely for when you can sell items to merchants.

When I scanned my Crystal Chest into the 3D printer, it disappeared and I could not print it from the 3D printer. However, at my Robotic Crafting Table, I found that I could now make the Crystal Chest there. Already having two crystal blueprints, I tested it with my friends and gave them a Crystal Chair and Crystal Bed. Once they put it into their 3D printer, they also could craft them at the table. Perhaps certain items, which can be crafted, instead teach you the blueprint when you put it into the 3D printer instead of making it printable. From my experience, it's mostly decoration items that can be scanned and printed.

I'll have to check out if they show up on the robotic crafting table once i get to it.
