Price?

Alright, It will start at 10- 15 dollars but the final price will be 20 - 25 dollars.

It has been proven that the cheaper you sell it the more it sells, at least on steam, that is why Terraria was so successful. I will try and donate if I get a chance but I think ten to fifteen, twenty max, is a decent price.

 

I think the approach of Mojang with MineCraft was a good move. Pay el cheap-o for the beta, and slightly more for the release. Early buyers get a cheaper game, and the developers get funding to continue the project.

 

I'm ok with 30$. Also, Terraria has a pretty good following => Kickstarter might help alot? Could then maybe maintain the actual cost of the game to indie game "standards". (not that I care... I would totally pay 30$)

 

i'm 22 lol, i'm just saying that ppl get a bit spoiled with indie games go for around 5-10$ wich imo isn't alot of money for the entertainment value for your money

 

True that. Steam amazes me with their x-mas sales every year ... and I find it hard to resist clicking the "buy" button with prices like €15, €25, €7.99, ...

unless it appeals to a very limited user-base, but this one does not.

 

I think 10-15 dollar is that real sweet spot of units sold x price.

In my country isn't like that, but in fact in some countries is like you are saying. I prefer buying games than using illegal copies. Thats why i hope it won't be to expensive i hate that euro isn't cheap in my country ;<

 

Yes, yes. I hope they will remember that dollar is not equal to euro! It always turns me to rage mode when I see this!

Around $15 - 20 Most indie games don't have too high a price tag. Terraria is well known so I think most people will know of these guys, when it comes out it doesn't need to be cheap, so people take one look at it and pick it up, but it can be a fairly medium price as they are so popular.

Would it be acceptable to have a bartering price for the game? For instance, I would gladly give many of my older games that I am done playing for Starbound. Or possibly a good book or two. Maybe we can work out an exchange rate for my magic card collection?

 

I'd pay $10 bucks straight up, maybe even $15. Too early to say how much it will be worth, but from what has been said, I can see it being around the aforementioned prices.
