Previous release date delays

Also for everyone angry about the game. It's not like this game is something you must have NOW. You can wait a bit longer. the game isn't gonna disappear.

 

I'd say it's more like: I offer to mow your lawn at some point in the next 14 months, but tell you if you pay up front I'll come by in seven days to trim your hedges first so you can get a feel for my work. You agree to separate terms of service agreements with myself and my parent mower company severely limiting your ability to file a lawsuit against me for liability and warranty violations. Then you proceed to call me on days 3, 4, and 5 complaining that I have commited some kind of fraud or at the very least violated our initial agreement because I have not shown up to trim your hedges yet. It is still day 5.

 

So 36 pages and no word from the team? Just that one post of Molly making fun of another post, right?

 

Dis anyone else have a super huge burst of happiness, then disappointment, and then back to happiness again when they originally only saw Release Date on the screen? Just me? Back to mindless craving of Starbound. And root beer. And Pokemon. Somehow they end up going hand in hand... Anywho, back to the topic at hand: I myself agree. To an extent. As in I am perfectly happy with a "no solid release date" approach, but if devs PROMISE a release date and then don't deliver... That is what is irritating. So long as Starbound releases by December 31, 11:59 PM, I will be happy. Adios, zai jian, goodbye, etc. and have a good night!!

I think it's time to start aggressively taking Chucklefish to task on sites like 4chan, Neogaf and Reddit. Turning a promise into a "maybe" or an "estimate" isn't okay.

 

I can't see that you've done anything wrong, even with the delays you have kept everyone up to date, and haven't disappeared off the map. *cough* Wolly *caugh* I would love to have a beta or alpha now but at the same time I understand that a lot of the gaming community can't seem to understand what a beta is, and releasing something buggy or broken even if its just in service to the fans can hurt your games reputation. Release when your ready we'll still be here to enjoy it.

I can say that you're full of crap and that it never didn't say it was an estimate. Did you pull that out of thin air?

 

When they have an update every day and it has nothing to do with anything that needs to be in the game before the BETA is released people run out of patience.

 

Maybe you're confused about the usage of the word "will".

"The Starbound beta will be coming this year"
"We'll have a beta available this year "

Thank you for reiterating my point, though.

 

Delays happen, but if there was never a release date given then there would have not been a release date to have missed.

I hope you guys make the best product you can!

Why not release the beta as is and let us get some play time in it, to hold us over? It's a beta it's supposed to be buggy and crash! A few thousand people bug testing the game is gonna be better than the few people you have right now, right?

I just want the beta for now. I don't care how unfinished it is, as long I can play the game I'm happy. I understand what beta means. I'm not expecting a finished product from a beta. I believe something was said about lose of data, being the reason the beta was not released yet. Because there are code changes that change the way save files work, but I don't care to lose some beta data as long as i get the beta.

Just release the beta as soon as you can and take your time to finish the game.

 

Not sure I would considering it "wasting time".

 

My question is what the hell brought this up? Was it a rather spontaneous thing, or was it more directly related to the thread for beta release dates?
