Previous release date delays

The pre-order page outright stated that the beta WOULD be released in 2013. It was not an estimate, it was a promise.

Except that doesn't work when some of the devs have families. You don't seriously expect Bart to leave his wife and child to move into a convenient studio in a more convenient country do you? Seriously you people are ridiculous

 

Well said, Tiy. As an amateur CG filmmaker and Youtuber in the making, I can very much relate to the idea that chasing your vision can (read: will) cause delays in your expected deadline. I have on occasion said on Youtube I'd have the next video ready before the end of the month, only to still be working on it five months later. And I work alone. I cannot for the life of me fathom how difficult it must be to estimate the release date of a huge project worked on by a whole group of people, people you don't even live in the same time zone as, to boot. Much less ambitious projects have been finished in way longer that Starbound has been in development for, and by much larger teams, and I for one do not feel like you're taking too long. If anything, you seem to be blazing through this thing lightning quick, especially considering how few of you are working on it.

You have all my support and patience, and I believe I speak in the name of everyone who's reasonable here when I say: release Starbound when it's done, and not a moment sooner, ya hear?

Yes i think the same, in the road map i only see 10 developers 2.000.000 / 10 = 200.000$ for every one (imagine is idividual money) if the team go togueter to the same game conventions for what dont go to the same studio in the same city? family sons etc maybe are the problem.

Tens of thousands of people all over the world have to make similar sacrifices daily, and they're not practically guaranteed huge payouts at the end. Starbound will clearly make a lot of money.
Your post also supposes that it would be impossible for someone to take their family with them.

Or- how about this-- maybe they could've hired development team members who were already geographically close together.

2 weeksor one month out from house leaving the family to work and return to house dont kill anyone.
Its more, the brother of my wife come to my house in november to stay here working in the refinery with no free days 1 month complete,he got 2 sons and one only with 2 months of live.
The true is : More Money Less Free Time-Less Money More Free Time.
200.000$ is a good reason to go out and dont see your family in weeks ,mounths,years.

Totally agree, take your time, what we want is a good game with what we can say more later "that this was the masterpiece of the early years 201X and actualy it has not grown old", not a game for christmas that we forget the past half-year.
