Screw this, I'm out. Have fun whining about something the devs won't give you because either way, you're stop gonna say it's either too soon, too long, or that they aren't able to keep their promises. That's all people have been doing lately.

The funniest part is you were also part of the argument.

I've said it once, and I'll say it again...
In the end this project is art, and you believe in it so maybe you helped make it happen by supporting it monetarily, and good for you. But this is their baby, a life's work, and their vision, it also happens to be a video-game. It's not yours or mine, so if they want to take 10 years making it, they can do that. If you're an artist or someone who has gone through it you'll understand and happily wait for fruition. A band can breakup, or wait 5-10 years to make more music, and their fans + new ones are still there when/if they come back. This is the beautiful tantalizing process of watching something cool get made and we're lucky to see it. I can only hope to one day make something that creates an entire community of people, before it's even done, waiting with bated breath to hear a peep from me during the process. I'm a patient man because I can respect the process as well as the product.

So basically this is an admission that even the beta won't come out until 2014.

Shigeru Miyamoto said that quote when games couldn't be patched. You are not Shigeru Miyamoto, you are a guy building a game from a concept that someone else invented but never properly fleshed out.

The delays are mostly due to poor scheduling and workflow: Stuff like having descriptions for every single item is what you do LAST in development. You don't waste time during beta on flavor text.

We just wanted the game, not for it to be perfect. We just wanted to build. The team seems to think that they have to "make" and "give" us an experience, completely missing the point of the game they're making-- Players create the experience themselves.

I've waited a long time but I'll be sending customer support an email asking for my money back. I no longer care about this game.

Truth be told I'm not on either side of the argument of whether a game should come out sooner rather than later.

There is a balance to most things. Don't drink enough water and you will dehydrate. Drink too much water and you'll drown. The same could be said of managing release dates. I myself am willing to wait however long it takes to make the game good but I know what other gamers are like. Gamers have the attention span of gnats. A delay of a month absolutely killed Justice League Online even though it was quite a good game and relatively innovative for it's genre. As much as I am willing to wait for Starbound to finish it's work when it feels it's ready to I also want this game to succeed. A balance of quality to speed should bring the best of both aspects, producing a great game that will have a large and dedicated fan base.

With that said, I also feel that there is too much ill spirited arguing in this thread. When taking positions in this topic it helps no one to state one's own opinion negatively. People need to take a breath, calm down and have a nice cup of whatever preferred beverage people choose. At least, that's my opinion on that matter.

As far as I'm aware, they want the play testers to be able to play the core game without any game breaking bugs, with as many features implemented as possible so they can test them all before the final release.

If you're going to insult the devs on their intelligence just because you're whiny and impatient, you should probably consider not posting further comments, and instead just sit in the corner and sulk until you grow up.

Yeah. Because descriptions for hundreds of items, or new dungeons are helping repair the game crashing bugs.

Good point. Not sure what the money was spent on if not moving people to work in the same office. Regardless of where in the world you are moving from, it could've been done for a few thousand dollars per team member.

This is like a shitfest of entitled, stupid and vindictive posts. Although there's nice posts too. It's always been an ETA, not a release date. You have to be retarded to get angry about missed estimations. Feel free to feel disappointed but not angry or anything, wth. I bought a pre-order knowing the date of ''2013'' was an estimation, I will be disappointed if it doesn't meet that estimation with the beta or the full game. I won't go crazy and make rude statements/rhetorical questions/insults towards the devs. Grow up.
