Previous release date delays

Remember when this forum used to be about Starbound news and not just argumentative nonsense? Yea, me either... *straps helmet back on and crawls back into fallout shelter*

 

Its understandable. I don't mind the wait. Me and my cousin tried to make a game once. I'm amazed by all the work you've put in and will wait eagerly until this lovely work of art is ready to be displayed.

 

I am always in the right place at the right time.

More of a comment than an rebuttal really, I simply found it humorous how you stated that the debate was pointless just as you joined it yourself

 

cmon how does that help any, this a train wreck. So we have people using reason and people just nagging. Then we also have people saying using reason is white knighting and people who nag are batman. then we have people complain that people complain about people that complain. Then there are people who complain because other people complain that other people complain that other people complain. This won't end I bet even after release the same thing will continue and it will never end. Boiling down to people are bored so they complain from every angle ignoring all reason or even trying to analyze the history of all game releases to figure out what a normal release actually is, or maybe there is no such thing as a standard normal release because we are all humans with different beliefs and though process and business cultures and nothing is truly the same.

I am human therefore I am a hypocrite as are you and everyone else.

The idea that the preorder money did not speed up development is completely false. It doesn't get any more true just because you keep repeating it. I think the sad part is that the reason it is untrue has been explained to you ad-nauseam by a great number of forum members and by no less than two developers. Even the news post that spawned this thread helps explain it; setting dates with a creative work is neigh impossible - obviously they'd be much further behind without that money and the ability to work on SB full time.

 

So we may not actually get the game this year?
The beta, at least.

I think the only solution if the Beta dont comes out in 2013 is taking a Alpha for people who bought the game and want to keep trying the product you paid
If people do not want an Alpha = No download it
But people like me and sure more more people need see and play this game (yes with hundred bugs but is a Alpha)

 

Tiy, if your reading this, can you just tell us more about the game , like tell us some features we dont already know, than people wont complain about the beta date.

 

Yeah, the game should be released to the public soon, beta/alpha, whatever.
Beta doesn't have to be perfect, the release, however, needs to be good.
I'd just like the beta before 2014.

This was a brilliant read Tiy, and I agree wholeheartedly. Gamers nowadays fall into the spectrum where we want to see the whole evolution of gaming changin, to see new things, or experience old ones in new ways. (for example, roguelikes.) Anyway, I'll be waiting for it's release as per always~

 

It's all good, I don't mind waiting though, I might give FF XIV a shot to pass the time. The more waiting, the more content+polish. I already bought 5 copies for myself and friends so the cash should be going to good use.

And yes it bothers me, there isn't any real debate going on, it's just voicing opinions without hearing them. You want me to mind my own business so fine. I'm unwatching this thread. Actually, I'd like to make a suggestion. Sure, I understand the complaints but as noted, I've been here.

I'd like to see suggestions on how to HELP the team. I suggested earlier beta with Zendesk tracking, and a post-beta series of posts on techniques (because hey, I love me a post-release analysis). We want the game, let's be part of the team in our own way and see if there's anything we can contribute to getting it out quicker.

(And, really, Tiy, Zendesk is SO worth it. It's also easy to find people used to customizing it you could probably get help for free.)

Unless you have access to a time machine and alternate continuity, you cannot claim that as you have no basis for comparison.
Saying "We don't have the Beta now" isn't enough because it's entirely possible (and probable) that without the preorders that Starbound could have come out in 2014 or even later.

On the other hand, I can claim that the dev team not having to take up part-time jobs lets them spend more time developing the game.
Which is far more logical than invoking the utterly impossible as "proof" like you just did.

No, they are either trolling, or they're dealing with their own insecurities in a very childish manner.
There's a very real difference between demanding the game, and demanding the game ahead of schedule. As it is not yet 2014, only the latter can apply to those questioning why we don't have the game now.

As for their history of mistakes: This isn't a point they can use to justify their complaints either.
Observe:

Case 1) Person X pre-orders Starbound knowing Chucklefish's bad record with release dates ("estimated" or otherwise).
Later complains about the lack of Beta, using said record as a basis for their argument without realizing how this completely undermines their decision to pre-order in the first place.
If they know Chucklefish has a bad record at keeping promises for release dates, why pre-order in the first place? They took the risk, and they need to own up to it. No excuses.
RESULT: Refer to my original stance.

Case 2) Person Y pre-orders ignorant of Chucklefish's bad track record with release dates.
They should have done more research before funding the game. It's not like Tiy/Chucklefish's record is something secret given how Case 1 CONSTANTLY REFERS to said record.
And if they are learning just now, well, they should just wait and see if the Beta comes out by year's end. I have no sympathy for ignorant consumers who blindly buy into anything when there is a trove of information easily available that would fix that.
RESULT: Refer to my original stance.

I heard the opposing opinion in his reply, and pointed out the logical flaws in that stance.
So spare me this pity party about "hatred" and "opinions"; as it's clear you have no idea what it is you are actually talking about.

If you're upset by this thread, I question why you even engaged in it to begin with. But no matter.

 

It does not matter how long it takes we trust that when you guys are done it will be an amazing game. Keep up the good work!
