Previous release date delays

Yes, its estimated to come out some time in 2013. That doesn't mean it's going to possibly to come out in 2014, it means they don't know when in 2013 they'll be done.

 

I'm so pleased that you and the team are not blinded by everyone's hunger for this amazing artful masterpiece.
Even if it takes another year, you can bet i'll be checking the site at least 6 times a week with awe, and intrigue.
I've never wanted to play a game more than Starbound, and I'm proud that this isn't going to be another hash of Terraria, even knowing how great Terraria was.
To me this game is beyond well worth its price for pre-order. And I've never been more honored to get to play anything else.

I offer to mow your lawn tomorrow for $20. You give me $20, I never show up. A month later I come and mow your lawn and say "Oh sorry, my estimate was a bit off."

Keep in mind that I never said it was an estimation when I took your $20, my statement was "I will mow your lawn tomorrow if you give me $20."

Is this acceptable business practice? Yes or no?

 

Off topic from the argument, Tiy, don't let anyone think that they can rush development, release a beta when you think it's able to be a good beta.

 

My prediction is this game will be out 2017 at the earliest due to the many delays but once it comes out even Raptor Jesus will gaze at its magnificence.

Don't know just throwing it out there... I would hate for such ardent vitriol to go to waste just because some people read more than there actually was in an article!

I mean the first paragraph should be a big give away:

I mean, i survived waiting for Duke Nuked Forever... This is nothing!

So take all the time you need, delay it to early 2014 if you want... It's not like it's the only game in the world

More like they offered to mow their lawn sometime this week, then the person gets mad after it hasn't been done by Thursday.

 

That's similar to my stance, really.
If it isn't out by the end of 2013, by all means, complain. Complain loudly. Demand refunds.
They've broken promises before, but with the pre-order, they have more reason than ever to keep to it.

But until then: PLEASE, STOP WHINING ABOUT THE LACK OF BETA. IT IS LITERALLY NOTHING BUT TROLLING AT THIS POINT.

EDIT: And because I keep seeing the comparisons...

People, Duke Nukem Forever, Aliens: Colonial Marines, etc....are NOT FAIR COMPARISONS AT ALL.
Those were not games that just had "long development hell", they were games that were passed off, shuffled about or rebooted internally, often several times (like migrating to a new game engine, meaning all old in-game assets had to be scrapped and made from scratch; DNF did this THREE TIMES).

I can say this because unlike all those other games that updated the public of their existence once every year (or 3 years in DNF's case) we get contiguous updates on features and content SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK.

The only way that comparison fits is if Chucklefish is outright faking the content and streams; which is fucking ABSURD. When we see Tiy playing the alpha in his stream, he isn't playing a doctored demo like they did with A:CM, that's the actual build of the game.

So please, stop with the incredibly stupid comparisons to shit like DNF and learn what "CONTEXT" means.

 

So the moral here guys is when life gives you lemons, complain you didn't get it sooner.

 

I don't know. Did you have to develop and build the lawnmower first? Also, how big is my lawn? Is there an incline on my lawn anywhere? And to what degree? How far away are you from my lawn?
Wait, why did I hire you to mow my lawn in the first place? I can do it much cheaper myself. Did you mind control me? Or am I somehow being forced to have you mow my lawn for me? Am I out of the country on business or otherwise too busy to do it myself? Maybe my son has been kidnapped and I'm trying to rescue him. Why did you take my son? I want my son back!

 

Yeah, have fun, but not with my money.

And by the way I liked Duke Nuked Forever, because it is similar to the games of my youth.

Just to be clear my issue is not that it has not been released yet, I will continue to wait patiently, I take issue with the backpedaling, trying to claim that a 2013 release was an estimate and not a promise. If 2013 is over and the game is not out this post would have you believe that means their estimation was off no harm no foul, when in fact it would mean they broke a promise. They guaranteed a 2013 release when they opened pre-purchasing and are now trying to call it an estimate, even if it does make it out in 2013 that is still in itself unacceptable.
