When I say I tire, I mean I have burnt out, burst a fuse, snapped a wire, hit a metaphorical wall, to have fazed out.

You can't compare Chucklefish(Tiy) and Picroma(Wollay). Picroma is made of only two people while the team working on Starbound is larger. Another thing to note is that Cube World was intended to be a side project, and people are treating it as if Wollay should be working on it all day, everyday. People have lives too.

On topic; Good to see a developer that puts quality first and foremost. I would rather have a game delayed or slow progress than see it be rushed and an ugly mess due to impatient customers. I'm pretty excited about Starbound myself, and have even gotten my daily Skype group to be interested in it. While yes, I'd love to have the game as soon as possible (due to excitement)...I'd feel better about it in the long run if the game takes longer to develop, but is a much more solid experience. I don't think the beta will be delayed any longer only because there simply isn't a reason too. The beta is not the final product, nor should it be treated as such. When it comes out, it won't make or break the game since it's there for open feedback and not to judge off of. Expect missing content or incomplete/buggy things, that the release could very well remedy. A release date for the final product can always be pushed as this is when things are suppose to be "done" and set in place. A beta is only testing and allowing feedback on how to improve. It doesn't need the full experience or all the content. Just a fraction.

Also; about all these people bickering about promised release dates and how they feel cheated that delays happen...welcome to alpha/beta! If you're looking for a complete and 100% on time game, simply buy a finished game and not argue over missed dates if it's for the sake of quality. By buying into a testing phase, you need to have some understanding that the game is NOT YOURS to demand from. The project is still Chucklefish's and you should respect the efforts they put in. I don't blame you for being upset, but don't take it out on them when they're actually trying to do something for the greater good.

This is what the devs said when they opened pre-purchasing. I'm interested to see your explanation as to how it does not constitute a promise that we will get to play in 2013 if we pre-purchase.

I totally agree, i rather wait longer for awesome game than to get the pour executed game (like Rome 2 Total War).

Dev team take as much as you need I want to have masterpiece when it gets out :D

I'm not seeing where you're getting this from, at the very start of the post it says that their estimates haven't changed.

I am so glad to hear a game team finally say these words! PLEASE TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED! When I get to play this game I want it to be the best game it can be. I currently work in the game industry and see this on a yearly basis where they rush products that are not ready to make some deadline for a marketing program.

Look, we have to come to an agreement somewhere, this argument is getting out of hand. Come to an agreement or someone please lock this thread, both are valid options spoken from others! :(

A thread shouldn't be locked because people are getting off topic. Those who are, or are outright resorting to personal attacks should be punished.

It -is- going to look bad if they keep having to lock every news thread. Besides. New people have signed up and joined in just to participate in this one. Stifling that would be silly.

Estimates. That's my point, they are calling it an estimate. It's not an estimate, it's a promise.

That is the devs *promising*, not estimating, that we will get to play in 2013. I still hope and have faith that it will come out in 2013, but I take issue with them trying to backpedal on their promise and call it an estimate, it smacks of trying to set things up to justify a delay if they do have to even though they promised a 2013 release at time of pre-purchase.

    Edit:

I'd encourage you to hold off. The promise isn't broken until January 1st, 2014.

This argument is simply an exchange of maddening loops, which could possibly neverendingly recur and create an infinite argument. Then again, that might just be me.

"You’ll have the chance to help us do that this year with the beta and we’re looking forwards to that too."

Doesn't that confirm beta will be this year? I don't understand all of the anger and confusion.

Bottom line of this wall of text: Delaying release is better than rushing things, Starbound is delayed because it is art and therefore can not be rushed.

Ofc we'll see that, but I don't care anymore when it's released, so try to complete your masterpiece in a way you're happy with. Wether or not you apologize, it would be interesting what happened since summer 2012 (comparison of the version you were about to release then and 2013). Although beta announcement could have been more precise.

Shit happens man. I once said I am definitely going to do my homework now to no avail. Now they have bigger projects. Putting new things in (some of them are community suggestions) and implementing new features that they haven't thought about when first making it. It's not like "I'm going to make a sci-fi game so there's going to be music", most of it is thought along the way such as "you know what would be great? Music. Let's add that." Unless you just want plain old boring games. I suggest you play Minecraft on 'Don't break anything' mode.

    rewards@chucklefish I think. I may be wrong...

I have read many daily updates, but it's getting really annoying seeing arguments in a place where they don't belong. ( decided to comment just because of this.)
