  1. This is some post i knew it was coming from several months already, before pointed how wrong i was about this gaming releasing BETA and Full Game this year ASAP. As most expectations from this community pointed to be out this summer, it's pretty natural the mad people about this since they itself have put higher expectations than what ended up being the reality.

So it's pretty normal the amount of rage we see, even if it's not justifiable in my opinion.

You mean the new Pokemon game? Or any in general?..

I mean not flaming and just playing pokemon while waiting. I'll have to say, 5th gen wasn't so good to me but 6th gen is golden.

In general actually. Soul Silver is my favourite. :3

There's still alpha in everything. There is game breaking shit still in the game I presume. Even so, Tiy is a perfectionist so just let him do his work.

why does everybody compare his stuff to other ones? chucklefish develops games, valve develops games, someotherprogrammingcompany produces games, no reason to compare starbound with anything from valve to justify release dates. or the missing of them, by the way. it's like you comparing bread to chocolate, just because you can eat both.
valve is a somewhat bigger company as chucklefish (i think. or chucklefish was growing really fast in the last time, hidden under the table) and has completely different ressources as chucklefish, first of all for programming and the connected time, but also to testing, balancing, writing, whatever stuff else. so it's really no shame for chucklefish to take longer for programming games, and also no reason to compare with them.
but hey, who am i to question chucklefishs decisions regarding their games, so if they want to compare... why only to games they WANT to be compared? why shall we compare the innovation of starbound (it's greatest strength) with games like CoD (which doesn't really much advertises with great innovation or creativity), but not the development time of starbound with the development time of duke nukem forever? what's the reason why we can compare it to one shooter, but to another we cannot? not to mention that i think the comparison to a shooter is kind of strange for a game like starbound, no matter if it's CoD, duke nukem or half life.
i'm studying elechrotechnical engeneering, and some time ago i asked there about the time limits of the project we have to do, because it looked like i needed more time. i got the answer "it's no use to take more time, because at some point the improvements you'll do get smaller and smaller and take more and more time. eventually you would get it done, but at that time you could have achieved much more and nobody cares about your project anymore. so the art of our work is not to get it done, the art of being en engeneer is to get it somewhat done in the asked time" and i think this matches here fine, too. engeneer, artist, programmer or whatever, with enough time you'll get everything done, but the trick is to get it not perfect someday, but somewhat perfect tomorrow.
i think you got my point. now i'm feeling somewhat bad for talking such negative things to and about you in this post, so let's end this with this: despite all critique i'm excited about starbound and hope it will be as good as i imagine it. good luck and happy working, chucklefish!

This reminds me of what I tell authors writing stories on a certain site. Putting that aside, yes, I would really like to play the beta sometime this 2013. However, if it doesn't, I'm still going to be happy because I've played so many games that were utter disappointments. I believe Starbound will be worth the wait.

I like your opinion but please use paragraphs. Seriously. Use em.

Also on topic of your opinion, comparing games like that is pretty much like comparing rare steak with rich gravy and rosemary to a pavlova cake with pure white cream and brightly coloured tropical fruit. They are both tasty but so different yet they are both categorized as food.

Shit has protein which makes it hypothetically speaking in the same category as protein shakes. Would you drink shit? I thought so.

I've been a Project and Program Manager in software for ten years - two in gaming. Gaming's a tricky area of development because of its complexities and because the industry as a whole is relatively new - it hasn't developed a "science" of development and considering what games ARE it may never really do so. I get the limits faced by the team and think the delay is the right call, and this if from the guy who's job it is to ask people WHY they're delayed.

Actually when this is all over and the game as out know what I want to see? You guys interview or discuss your development process - I bet there's a lot to learn. OK I may be one of the few that wants to know if you used Kanban, non-hierarchial structures, or automated compile and review, but still ;)

Thanks for letting us know and being honest with us! Not like we got that from simcity(but, we won't go there). We have waited this long for starbound so a bit longer won't kill us that's for sure. I would love to have a game that I enjoy that comes out later instead of something that is rushed that turns out to be crap(like simcity but wait we have expansions for our broken game yay). Either way I can't wait for this game but, take your time and do it right. I love what I see so far and I am all ready for some beta!

it's like you're asking for people to be pissed off at you.
it would be easier to just say "We couldn't get the game out because things weren't ready yet, and i'm sorry for that." rather than saying things to justify your current position.
grow up a little and get rid of that ego please.

Honestly, I didnt even know bout the development of Starbound til I stared playing Terraria again. I looked into it and was like, "Holy shit, this looks 1000x better then terraria!!!" Then I saw that it wasnt out yet and my hopes died. So I pre-ordered it so I could play beta and meet all you awsome people and now my hopes for Starbound are growing everyday.
