Preset race styles and random selectable styles for crafted equipment/mechanical things

Its nice to make a shotgun, even nicer to make two. But with the addition of random generated weapons a whole new amount of the same gun can look different and to a extent work differently, if there are certain guns that are essentially the same but remodelled, it would be neat if the player had a optional influence over the asthetic result.

For example, i have landed on a avian planet and i feel my gun feels out of touch with the local archetecture and surroundings, instead of just looting the avian technology and having thier weapons for myself, i can craft a new shotgun and choose a avian theme (maybe something with a dragon head on the end or a feathery shotgun).

Although i am not sure on how this would be implemented in my mind, if the terraria like insta-crafting bar was implemented (though ive heard that the community are not very keen on doing that again) there would be a button to the side with a initial ? and arrow that switches to previews of pre-defined race themes starting with human future tech, avian primitive relgious influence etc, etc.

(Random may choose styles similar to these but not the actual theme itself)

Otherwise without choosing this setting will be set to random, These asthetics could be applicable to certain equipment so you can create your own avian temple complex base on one planet and a cyberpunk mix of the two on the next.

 

More customization the better.
Really adds a lot of work for the devs though.
and i think their is a option to customize your weapons looks already, just i dont think in themes.

 

Sort of like an expansion of just painting weapons? I like it, adding small thematic pieces to weapons would be very cool in my opinion.

 

I don't think you should have to recraft the entire weapon. Instead, something like "Paint Packs", purchasable from an intergalactic market, would allow you to change your weapons' themes at will.

 

Realistically i think your idea would be more practical but could easily co-exist with my own.
