Preorder Rewards?

I was browsing through all of the reward medals and came across these, titled "Preorder Rewards." It seems as if the medal you're awarded is based off of the amount of monetary donations. Do you think there would be any implication of in game rewards based on which medal(s) you earn, or are they solely for forum purposes?

 

Now I'm starting to get interested in what they're actually going to end up doing.

But yeah, I think it's interesting. Maybe you get a random badge for pre-ordering so you don't see thousands of users with the same exact pre-order badge over and over again.

Nah. I think they represent tiers. I can see frustrated users writeing to mods "I wanted SWORD badge, no Space Hobo badge....oh, I mean penguin"

 

There's a sword one. I like swords. Please don't be too expensive.

Possible but Wanderlust is already out for example.

 

There's a new Wanderlust coming out, have no idea what it's called, or anything about, but have heard it being mentioned several times.

Anyways yeah Heart and Lightning are prolly for Stardew Valley and Treasure Adventure World.

 

Ah I didn't know that, that's pretty cool then! Starbound is really the only one I'll be donating too though.

 

Same, but I don't think it would be for the other games. The delayed news letter is really suspicious to me, if it isn't linked to the metals.

 

I guess I'll donate all the Dosh, seeing that I have Lods of Emone.

It sounds plausible, but why lightning? Wouldn't something like a ship make more sense? Or a paper hat? Or a treasure chest?

 

Am I the only one here who doesn't like these tiered systems? I feel obligated to buy the most expensive package. While that benefits the developers, to me it's a small step removed from micro-transactions. I'm hoping with the lack of greed Chucklefish has shown in the past, the most expensive one doesn't crack $50 or so. I have to buy 2 for my girlfriend and I, and I would like to get the highest tiers.

 

Well, it hasn't been confirmed that they are tiers for amount of money donated. I think it makes more sense that the badges are for the four different Chucklefish games that are still in development.

I can't wait to see the newsletter, because why else would they delay it so much? I wish they would at least tell us if it's going to even be out of this week, because I get disappointed when I don't see it up.
