Weapons are powered on something. Possibly having a ingame mechanic which changes the nature of some bullets in certain guns depending on the power source the weapon is powered on. Example: A space pistol powered on hydro power fires bullets that causes enemies to become slightly soaked (needing multiple bullets to cause a stronger effect) causing a debuff of a sort . I was thinking up ideas on what they would be powered on. The Idea is some of these are renewable and some are non. Feel free to suggest on to the list. Bio Energy Source: Living creatures, plants and possibility the planet itself? MOTHER NATURE FTW! Advantage: A very strong source of energy but very volatile. Causes bullets to hit harder. Disadvantage: Bullets don't move straight due to the effects raw effects of a living being's will being unmeasurable. Creatures become more hostile to you? Rendered ineffective on a planet devoid of life. Solar Energy Source: Sun. Advantage: Cause enemies to catch fire? Bullets go through all enemies? Disadvantage: Planets with no sun renders this ineffective. Hydro Energy Source: Water. Rivers. Lakes. Ice (by melting or so) Advantage: Slow in movement? Blinding? Slippery surface? Disadvantage: Where there is no water, there is no power for this? Wind Energy Source: Movement on a planet with life? Advantage: Wide spread? Bullets knock back? Disadvantage: You need to run and gun to use it and recharge it? But the demand out weighs the income of energy meaning a need of a continuous break? Electrical Energy Source: Battery? Thunderstorm? Advantage: Lighting Chain effect? Extra damage on enemies in water or soaked? Disadvantage: Gravity / Anti Matter Energy (Not sure what to call this exactly) Source: Black hole? Star? Comet? Center of a planet itself? Advantage: Bullets cause a distortion? Such as slower enemy movement? Possibly draw in enemies on where the bullets impact? Disadvantage: Rare? Hard to find? Hard to obtain? Chemical Energy Source: Dangerous liquid that has to be synthesized Advantage: Area of Effect? Bullets are coated in a poisonous, acid bullet? DoT? Bullet explodes and coats enemies around a certain radius of the impact? Radiation? Disadvantage: Chemicals are expensive to create? Complicated mixing system? Hard to obtain materials from various parts of universe? Enemies are immune or grow immune through repeated use? Any other ideas or how this mechanic should be incorporated? Should it affect the "bullet" as a effect? Or should it be limited some guns use this mechanic as ammo?
I have to say, I quite like the idea of having to manage power sources for your buildings rather than your weapons. It be interesting trying to make sure that all of your super shiny high tech gadgetry doesn't turn into 30 tons of highly overengineered paperweights.
