Basically, Power Armor would be an extremely high-powered armor that increases your speed and allows for special abilities (think Samus's armor from the Metroid series, or Iron Man's armor. More like Iron Man, though.) It might allow for boosted jumping, more powerful gun shots or melee hits. But you'd need armor with Modules to use the abilities. Modules would be a special item you make that require a lot of resources. The modules I've come up with are: Note: Under the spoilers are secret modules. If you want them to be a surprise, don't click the little button. Jump Modules: Jump Module MK I: A bronze module with an image of a rocket launching on it. Makes you jump a little higher. Jump Module MK II: A silver module with an image of a rocket flying through the air on it. It makes you jump higher. Jump Module MK III: A golden module with an image of a rocket exiting the atmosphere on it. It allows you to jump higher..twice. Jump Module MK IV: A platinum module with an image of a rocket on it. It allows you to jump higher, and three times. Gun Modules: Gun Module MK I: A bronze module displaying a bullet moving through the air at high speeds. It makes your shots do a little more damage. Gun Module MK II: A silver module displaying a bullet breaking the sound barrier. It makes your shots do more damage. Gun Module MK III: A golden module displaying a bullet about to hit a target. It makes your shots do a lot more damage. Gun Module MK IV: A platinum module displaying a target being hit by a bullet. It makes your shots do more than twice the damage. Strength modules: Strength Module MK I: A module displaying a small weight on it. It makes your melee attacks do a little more damage. Strength Module MK II: A module displaying a medium-sized weight on it. It makes your melee attacks do more damage. Strength Module MK III: A module displaying a large weight on it. It makes your melee attacks do a lot more damage. Strength Module MK IV: A platinum module displaying a huge weight on it. It makes your melee attacks do more than twice the damage. The modules you can use is limited by how good your power armor is. Different types can hold more, and better modules, with a max of 3 modules. Power Armor will make you move slightly faster on its own, but won't have any special effects other than being good armor. Also, it has a bacon dispenser. *Bacon dispenser only included in Deluxe and Ultimate models. Bacon sold separately.
.... I like the implications of this. Of course I'm ecstatic about the logbook and all that in depth scanning, so anything that would make my never ending scan spree easier, like this helpful suit, would be awesome. Of course in some of the screen shots I've seen what looks like Powered Armor already as an armor type. Perhaps they've already done something like this for us? : O Either way, I like the concept! 8 D
The point of mechs is transport mainly. Also they are not an easily accessible tool, you need to go and collect it from your base to be able to use it, for that reason I am against this suggestion because it is too easily accessible and too powerful for this level of access.
I know, my problem is that it is an armour as opposed to a mech. It is far to accessible, the fact that you could wear it all the time while doing other tasks such as mining or hunting...
It's supposed to be extremely expensive and late-game armor. Also, the only thing it gives you without modules is just a small speed boost.
I love the idea of there being power armour, but..., not exactly what you sugested, especially the modules. My idea would be, basically a really strong armour that doesn't sacrifice too much of your speed, but you have to wear the full set for that, (well, except maybe for the helmet) makes you stronger, letting you use some special really heavy weaponry, and sometimes gives you special abilities. Sometimes it migh have a mounted weapon on one arm, like a hand cannon, or a jetpack, or amortiguating boots, or shield generators, or a teleportation unit ... You know, something awesome, but a I guess a iron man/metroid all in one late end-game armor would be awesome. I guess something like super jump, or stronger melee would be ok, but stronger ranged attacks?, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me, maybe incresaed crits? And also every kind of power armour should have a shouldermounted toaster!
Yeah, honestly the gun modules would be kinda overpowered. Higher crit chance makes more sense. Power armor is probably already in.
The module idea is very nice, I think there should be a lot more variety of them though, like energy shield modules and grip modules. No it's not.
Personally I would love to see power armor in game. It seems to me like it should be unable to use normal weapons due to it's larger size, and instead need bigger, badder guns and weapons that a normal player cannot wield properly.
This is a great idea, I'd love to see something like it in the final game. Assuming the modules and the armour are difficult enough to create/find it would make great endgame/near endgame armour.
This sounds neat, but I agree there should be more variety between the modules. Modules for healing, shielding, movement, ballistics weapons, laser/plasma weapons, melee weapons...it should be spread out enough to allow for more play styles. Aside from that, it does seem a bit strong so it would definitely have to be endgame or near endgame.
Power Armor would be a great late game tool. Yes tool. You would probably sacrafice things like carrying capacity, variety of equipment, and loadouts in exchange for things like darkvision, flight, weapon efficiency. Then again, there could also be armor for the exact opposite. It would be interesting! I Approve.
I agree with you, Bine. Power armor should have enough drawbacks that going without the armor would remain preferable in many ways. For instance power armor might not be so good for exploring and resource gathering, but it would shine when going headfirst into expected trouble, or to do big jobs you prepared for ahead of time.
The Idea isn't bad. I like it. Although i have to admit that my first impression regarding the title was something similar to the Samus Aran Metroid Armor I don't think it's overpowered. As far as we know is that weapons, shields and very much other equipment stuff will be procedural generated. Suppose they will have many different stats on them like healing boosts and whatever. Makes your suggestions rather fitting.
Power Armor should have This. Also have a branch of power armors that gives you slightly better jump height, a weak jetpack, extra item slots and empowers your mining tools or something of the sorts. Perhaps a type of these armors that is made for long ranged combat that pressing a button you become immovable but can pan your view further, all weapons have longer range and accuracy. Stealth suits, something like longer stealth time or improved stealth with 100% crit chance on attack while cloaked.
Well, the branching thing..I don't like having to have 50 different items of the same type to do the same thing. Hence, Modules.
